I still do what made me fall in love with software, telling a computer what I want it to do, and seeing it actually do it.

Robots are still just a tool. Over the last 5–6 months, they’ve been writing really good code, sometimes even better than mine. But just like me, they also make mistakes. They make our lives easier, so use them and keep building great things.

At least for now, I don’t see a robot saying, “humans have this problem, I’ll create a tool or app to solve it.” Not yet. The future is bright, and I’m excited about what we’ll be able to do with their help.

Even if a robot can create a full application, there’s still a lot more to do. A great product is not just code, it’s much more than that.

The first Starships to Mars will launch in 2 years when the next Earth-Mars transfer window opens.

These will be uncrewed to test the reliability of landing intact on Mars. If those landings go well, then the first crewed flights to Mars will be in 4 years.

Flight rate will grow exponentially from there, with the goal of building a self-sustaining city in about 20 years. Being multiplanetary will vastly increase the probable lifespan of consciousness, as we will no longer have all our eggs, literally and metabolically, on one planet.

Soy como la persona Y pero no por pensar en el largo plazo solo en el dinero 😝 será malo? Es decir cuando cambio de trabajo a lo mejor era CTO en la startup y en una compañía grande soy Jr, pero ganó más en la segunda, eso sí siempre busco aprender y el dinero jaja

El capítulo de hoy habla de las promociones en tech

Lo que me encantó fue el énfasis a pensar en tu carrera a largo plazo

Por ejemplo, la persona X se enfoca solo en el título (senior, staff, etc), y cuando no consiguen ofertas de trabajo en su nivel o en el stack que dominan, prefieren seguir donde están por el peso de ese título o experiencia.

Esto es pensar a corto plazo.

El otro ejemplo es la persona Y que se deja llevar por la curiosidad y es flexible. No le pesa si consigue una oferta con un título menor al que tenía, siempre y cuando el empleo le llame la atención y le da la oportunidad de aprender cosas nuevas.
Esto le da la oportunidad de desarrollar nuevas habilidades, y le es más sencillo conseguir ofertas con niveles más altos porque ha fortalecido su nivel actual con mas feedback y skills.

Esto es pensar a largo plazo.

moving it back to JS and using a bit of C where needed has given us an insane perf boost
