1/3 There is a benefit from getting students at the top end of the IQ range to take courses they can't handle (sadly, no such courses exist in the social sciences and humanities). A lot of these kids would benefit from being intellectually humiliated.
schools should include a class called Truth Is Hard, where u get bombarded with examples of confused eyewitnesses, incorrect public outrages, studies that failed to replicate, super convincing arguments that fall apart with one additional fact u didn't expect, etc.
Part of the reason everyone has united in resisting Russia is that Russia seems comparatively weak. If it were another country (I mention no names), many more people would hedge.
One of the biggest culture shocks for me is when I am out in the world and realize that asking someone โhow do you know that?โ after they make a claim is widely considered offensive. This makes me pretty sad.
