The first human RCT linking morning bright light to ↑ glymphatic function was just published
8 weeks of morning light in young adults:
↑ Glymphatic (DTI-ALPS) markers
↓ depressive symptoms
It was also linked to ↑ prefrontal cortex activity and ↓ inflammatory markers
💤Researchers found that prescription stimulants for ADHD act on brain networks that control wakefulness and reward, but not attention as previously thought. The study suggests that stimulants and additional sleep affect the brain in similar ways, and that getting enough sleep could help in managing #ADHD.

We have developed tiny, injectable magnetoelectric antenna that can wirelessly power deep-tissue medical implants, without bulky batteries or invasive surgery.
This ultra-small device — smaller than a grain of sand — harvests low-frequency magnetic fields and converts them into electric charge via a magnetostrictive + piezoelectric film. The result: 4–5 orders of magnitude more power than similarly sized conventional antennas.
It opens doors to battery-free pacemakers, neuromodulators (for epilepsy, Parkinson’s), and continuous biosensors, all placed via needle rather than major surgery.

Nearly 2/3s of daily behaviors are triggered by habit and not conscious decision-making. This highlights the power of habit in shaping behavior and points to strategies for building healthier lifestyles by focusing on habit formation and disruption

Owning a cat is associated with a 2x odds of schizophrenia.
The proposed causal agent is Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite found in cats.
This parasite can persist in the nervous system and has been linked to changes in the brain.
The parasite that causes Chagas disease, which kills more people in Latin America than malaria, is here in the U.S. The disease's symptoms generally don't show up for decades: heart attack, stroke, death. Have we been ignoring a potential source of #CVD ? https://t.co/02kcJmz2ve
Our new review is out! We detail mechanisms by which the viral, bacterial, parasite, and other pathogens that infect humans over a lifetime accelerate features of aging: https://t.co/osEgxokKM7
Hidden in the lungs of some breast cancer survivors are tumor cells that can remain dormant for decades — until they one day trigger a relapse.
Now, a study shows these rogue cells can be roused from their slumber by viruses such as COVID-19 or the flu.

“This review explores the molecular mechanisms by which melatonin may exert neuroprotective effects, particularly in the context of mitochondrial dysfunction. Special emphasis is placed on pathways involved in oxidative stress mitigation and neuronal preservation.”
“We hope that the cerumenogram will become a routine clinical examination, preferably every six months, that allows, with a small portion of earwax, to simultaneously diagnose diseases such as diabetes, cancer, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's..” https://t.co/HEazCBWOXv

Measles—currently spreading in Texas & New Mexico—is more serious than a rash & fever: it also causes immune amnesia, leaving patients vulnerable to secondary infection. Vaccination prevents the spread of measles & reduces immune amnesia's impact. https://t.co/Z6yBnKMr60
