@dibakermun 100% As long as there is credit given where it is due, I believe no harm is done by adopting the sound of another Culture. However; there is a thin line between admiration and extortion
@SpurrellFrank I agree with what you are saying. By using the the sound generated from African-American culture many people were finally able to understand and accept the talent being generated though these lesser known artists.
The idea of taking another cultures sound and using it for your own success sounds questionable. However; I believe this also displays a level of respect for the music in question and in my eyes, should be seen as a sign of appreciation for another cultures talent and expression.
@HulanColin This is so true. Ray Charles was a revolutionary in the music industry and I believe this had a lot to do with his ability to convey his emotion so strongly in such a creative fashion.
Ray Charles has a sound like no other. He mastered the ability to break his voice unconditionally and I believe this allowed him convey much more emotion in his music attracting genuine admirers that would normally listen to another genre. #MUS2011F20
