@Emilie_Gardner @cgardne15 #FN3100 EatThisMuch will do that! It will recommend meals with recipes (simple 5 ingredient ones) based on foods you say you like.
@maureenscottt @cgardne15 #FN3100 I feel like the app where you use before and after pics of your plate might be good here. They snap a quick pic and then put tracking aside. Might help with reducing fixation?
@jackhayden12345 @cgardne15 #FN3100 yes! This helps the coach offer better, more informed feedback and helps with communication with the athlete. That way everyone is on the same page!
@cgardne15 #Fn3100 I like MFP to build awareness. I've used it in research, and user's sensitivity dies down over time. I like the data I can pull, and when cross referenced with professional software, it was pretty accurate. It helps me educate the subject and tract adherence
@cgardne15 Personal trainers should find their way into the healthcare network! You don't get an insurance covered exercise clinician until you already have a health problem.
@cgardne15 #FN3100 Apps are a cost effective way to help facilitate these postive behavior changes, suggesting implications for a wide variety of target groups
@CarlySchalitz @cgardne15 #FN3100 I like that you mention gaining weight. For some people that's just as hard and they have to be really mindful and planful. Apps can absolutely help with that.
@graceeschnei@KylaSmi14 @cgardne15 #FN3100 Grace, this is a good point. Finding the right tool to best assist the client is key. It only works if they can consistently use it and it helps them. Otherwise it just becomes something they have to do for you as the RD
@ovandrasik20 @cgardne15 #FN3100 i love this! Ensuring they know the app data is an "educated guess" at best, and our bodies aren't machines that work the same way every day all the time. We aren't running on algorithms!
@gallocmdietetic @cgardne15 #FN3100 For sure! And they can get obsessivr about exercise as much as food, and that can snowball into more destructive behaviors.
@Starsmackey @cgardne15 I like your mention of weight.. some apps require frequent weighing in, and that can also increase the fixation. Especially with young people who may have unreal expectations of progress
@cgardne15 #3100 there were increased purging behaviors with those using the devices for weight and shape reasons, so it may exacerbate fixation on appearance to an unhealthy extent
