i don't necessarily disagree but this argument as stated seems to suggest that people who read more would think less, which is clearly not what happens. so there's some sort of meaningful phenomenological difference between reading and watching television, but what?

@3corch3 visual poetry etc. there’s experimental stuff that rewards multiple viewings and there’s stuff that doesn’t, and that’s kind of my closest proxy for quality there. and this sort of quality probably cuts across film and text, no?

@3corch3 experimental film is def a broad category but my best experiences with it have been when i don’t try interpreting per se, but take it as i would a bit of nature (e.g. several of malick’s movies), as kind of uncritisizable.
