As horrible as the Nepal disaster is, that's not the story.
The Himalayan glaciers, source of water for the Asian subcontinent, are collapsing.
Soon, some 2B people will be forced to migrate.
Wherever they show up, they'll be met with machine guns.
The coal mine canary is dead.
This happened because a melting glacier broke off and fell into a huge body of water.
Humanity is not remotely prepared to deal with the increasing intensity and frequency of climate disasters, let alone reverse course. All so a few people can make money from it.
@arvofart As has been remarked, they'll somehow stretch out what took 20 minutes in the original film to a full hour. But anyone who actually watches that shit deserves it.
@therightram I'm sure you've said something on it before, but whatever happened to Paradiso? That was the first thing of yours I ever read, I quite liked it.
@therightram You need people who can call a spade a spade, or rather bad work bad work. People need standards!
Though I feel like most criticism you see on the internet isn't harsh but fair or driven by idiosyncratic taste but just people being assholes without even being clever about it.
Yes of course. That's the problem with modern comics, they're too intellectual. When I think boring, I think of a book trying to engage with me intellectually instead of just throwing in a bunch boilerplate action scenes and meaningless plot twists. More slop please, nom nom nom.
@Darren_Mooney On the plus side he almost certainly doesn't care. He says he's disowned most of his work, which I think is bluster to some degree, but pretty sure he's moved on. He's happily working on new projects.
I would simply ask the moderates remaining in my life how exactly I am supposed to find middle ground or common cause or even reason with people who revel in public performances of gratuitous cruelty with more squeals of joy than swine rolling in shit
Brian Thompson's family is expected to give victim impact statements in Luigi Mangione's trial.
I'm more interested in hearing the victim impact statements from the family and clients of United Healthcare who were denied coverage and had their lives ended it ruined.
