What an immense legacy he leaves - from interfaith work to heritage conservation, from hospitals to sustainable development initiatives that turned ancient forts into sensitively designed hotels. Thinking too of the grandfather from whom he took over: Aga Khan III was at the forefront of a modernising agenda for India’s Muslims in the early 20th century - which I wrote about in ‘Broken Threads.’

First surgical on-call shift ✅ . Clerking and assessing surgical patients in the hot clinic, and did my first I&D under supervision! Also got to use my Urdu in a consultation with a patient! Very rewarding day.
