Awesome news! Our paper "Judicial Decisions, Backlash and Secessionism" (with @fede_curci@moragasai, now everybody with the right handle!) about the effect of the Constitutional Court's Ruling about the #Estatut in Catalonia, in 2010, has been accepted at The Economic Journal @EJ_RES @OUPEconomics! @CUNEF

In 2010, after years of deliberation, the Spanish Constitutional Court ruled about the constitutionality of the Catalan "Estatut d'Autonomia". We study the effect of this particular judicial decision on the support for independence in Catalonia. 2/n

Our paper “Difference-in-Differences Designs: A Practitioner’s Guide” is now published in the Journal of Economic Literature. It took us a while but we are happy!
We put together a lot of material to make the paper useful in practice: https://t.co/30TbAgihlz
Hope you like!
It was a lot of fun and such a great learning experience! Thanks to @causalinf for shedding light on this rapidly evolving world of DiD estimators, for the tips, and above all for making all the materials accessible. Thanks as well to @aahouses and @CUNEF for hosting.

⚡️⭕️ This horrific story just happened earlier today in Lebanon:
Israel called the young man in the car, they asked him if he wants to die alone or with his family in the car.
He left the car and got bombed on the side of the road.
This paper has been in my head for years. From my time at 3ie and JPAL, wondering why the evidence we produce as researchers so often fails to translate into policy, and what role ideology plays. Very happy to see it now published in the @AEAjournals. Let me tell you the story 🧵
Roald Dahl, 1983, about Beirut under Israeli bombs:
"One finds it almost impossible to believe that a civilised people could perform such acts of fiendish barbarism upon women and children and patients in hospitals... The Israelis pinpointed and hit no less than thirteen out of the seventeen hospitals in Beirut, one of them a mental hospital and many of the others full of children."
This is central Beirut, close to the American University of Beirut. Nobody in these neighbourhoods would expect to be targeted; no warnings given. Displaced people are sheltering all around these locations.
Israel has committed a huge massacre in Beirut.
