Donald Trump destroyed his presidency tonight.
This craven surrender to Iran will stand as history’s most pathetic capitulation.
Well done, Mr President. You’ve sealed your legacy as a spineless loser. (@realDonaldTrump)
Make no mistake: This MOU is a capitulation to the Iranian terrorist regime, potentially more dangerous than Obama's JCPOA. This will rejuvenate a terrorist regime with nuclear ambitions committed to global ideological domination through terrorism.
🚩Immediate lifting of the U.S. Naval blockade.
🚩Immediate sanctions waivers, worth $3 billion+ each month. This encompasses petrochemical products along with related banking and insurance services.
🚩NO prohibition on Iran imposing tolls through the Strait of Hormuz.
🚩NO prohibition in Iran's funding of terrorist proxies.
🚩NO agreed upon full dismantling of Iran's nuclear weapons program.
🚩NO agreed upon removal of the regime's enriched uranium.
🚩NO prohibition on uranium enrichment.
🚩NO mention of Iran's ballistic missile program.
🚩Attempts to force Israel into halting its fight against Hezbollah.
🚩Unfreezes $100 billion + of regime assets, nearly 2x the annual regime budget.
🚩Proposes at LEAST $300 billion (from non-U.S. sources) for the regime to "develop its economy." Because money is fungible, they will be equipped to rebuild their depleted missile program, fund Hezbollah and Hamas, and almost certainly advance their nuclear ambitions. Comparing this to the Marshall Plan is Orwellian. The Marshall Plan came after unconditional surrender and full eradication of the Nazi regime.
This will be the defining moment of his presidency.
Congratulations President Trump on officially becoming the worst foreign policy president since Jimmy Carter.
From the best to worst in such a short period of time.
Great accomplishment.
Maybe next we should lift all sanctions on Al Qaeda and give them $300 billion while we're at it.
WHAT IRAN GOT:
•$300 billion
•Removed sanctions
•Control of Strait of Hormuz
•Maintains missile program
•No destruction of nuclear program
WHAT THE U.S. GOT
•Higher gas prices
•Billions spent
•No major objectives achieved
•Americans dead
We got fleeced.
Trump’s comments on Iran at the G7 summit were “desperate rationalizations from a man who cannot face facts and admit defeat,” @RadioFreeTom argues in The Atlantic Daily. https://t.co/RXl0fL1A6N
This is turning into a fucking circus.
Over the course of a couple of days, President Trump managed to embarrass every supporter he ever had.
Celebrating $19 trillion in investments from Qatar while throwing Israel under the bus.
Enough is enough!
Hitting Iran’s nuclear and missile sites was the right move. This regime chants death to America, murders our troops, and attempts to assassinate Americans on U.S. soil. They believe they have an obligation to destroy us.
Now, we plan to unlock billions of dollars and lift sanctions, with the promise of even more money. They will use that money the way they always do— to further their nuclear ambitions and on terrorist proxies against us. It’s a huge mistake to pay to rebuild the threat we just destroyed.
Ghalibaf-Vance Pact does not release $25 of the blocked assets, it unfreezes and makes all of Tehran’s assets fully available immediately after the implementation of the MOU.
This MOU is even worse than what we thought. Total capitulation by the administration on many issues.
The MOU has now officially been released
To all those who said "wait till we see the text!"
Well... now we see it
And it's unequivocally the most disgracefully humiliating one sided capitulation imaginable
No surprise—bipartisan condemnation for a disgraceful deal that looks like “unconditional surrender”, not by Iran, as Trump demanded, but by America. 1/
