The Tongass Land Mgmt Plan (which reg's the Tongass NF in SE Alaska) is currently undergoing revision. To help inform that process, we reviewed the status of regional endemics & specimen capacities to measure change through time: https://t.co/RBMrrhBXkk

I am so grateful for how @SenatorHeinrich, @SenatorLujan, and @Rep_Stansbury each support science-driven stewardship of wildlife and public lands in the US, and strive to make the US a leader in global biodiversity conservation.
After spending the day on the Hill advocating for @NSF funding with @mwdmccloy and talking about my work with natural history collections, I made it to @NMNH for a brief run through the museum before closing! #CollectionsAreEssential
It was an honor to meet with @AAAS Fellow Alex Halvey in the office of Sen. @MartinHeinrich in support of $11.9B of funding for the @NSF. Natl Science Fdn. funding is critical for getting undergraduates into sci careers and fuels interdisciplinary research at @UNM!
#AIBSCVD2023
@aandroski and I were in a marathon of meetings today on Capitol Hill on behalf of @AIBSbiology to advocate for funding @NSF at $11.9B in FY24. Many thx to the staff of @MartinHeinrich for chatting w/ us, and was great to meet the Senator himself!
Phenomenal Panama expedition - the result of a beautiful and fun collaboration with the Gorgas Institute, UNM, KU, and the PICANTE Consortium. Much discovery awaits!
I am recruiting motivated grad students (MA and PhD) to start in 2023 - hybrid genomics, host-symbiont evolution, and adaptation.
Lawrence is a wonderful (and affordable!) place to live, with a great museum and strong Ecol/Evo Dept @SSEgrad@systbiol
A just-published study showed that the Arctic is warming four times faster than the rest of the world (https://t.co/dAjt7l9tse). These specimens, which will be made publicly available through museums, will be key to understanding and responding to these unprecedented changes.
Just got back to NM last week after my second big trip up north! What an incredible experience to work with folks from three(!) museums to collect mammal specimens from the wild and from freezers. 🐀🐿🦦🐾 #collectionsAreEssential#mammals#mammalogy
Great stop at the Burke Museum in Seattle with @edubguerra and my ol' lab mate @donnie_jcksn . My team appreciated the help (and tour!) while we were on the road. Thank you!! @omys_omics@aandroski
What a great field crew!! Collaborating with 2 other museums (@UNM_MSB@UWiscResearch) and the Northwest Territories Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to document mammals in the changing north with @omys_omics @itsdoctabs @aandroski@kunhm
If you missed my poster on shrew phylogeography at @ASMTucson, it’s still up for viewing at board 54! I’d love to answer your questions and talk #shrews! #justShrewIt
