Le sorgenti di Nabi Aner sono di proprietà privata di una famiglia palestinese, sono aperte a tutti, chiunque può sostare o fare un bagno, gli agricoltori utilizzano l'acqua per irrigare i campi.

È stato sempre così, fino al 2014, quando un gruppo di coloni assalta e occupa le sorgenti, arrivano i militari che delimitano il sito e vietano l'accesso ai proprietari e agli agricoltori costretti ad abbandonare i terreni oramai inariditi.

Il sito è diventato un parco per turisti israeliani.

Secondo i dati ONU, negli ultimi 15 anni i coloni hanno occupato oltre 50 fonti d'acqua nella Cisgiordania centrale, tutte di proprietà palestinese, quasi tutte acquisite illegalmente dallo Stato occupante, rinominate e usate per scopi turistici ad uso esclusivo degli israeliani.

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese has escalated her criticism of 'Israel', describing its policies toward Palestinians as a state-sponsored genocide and apartheid project.
