@xwanyex Knees, shoulders and backs can only take so much even with the right precautions. On the otherside you can go sit in an office and get fat, a bad back, wrist, shoulder, etc. Your body wears out.
@WomanDefiner I do remodeling the older houses aren't that great. Inspectors were more lax. The lumber was better but most of the finish materials were worse, unless you are using natural stone and higher end materials.
@wanyeburkett People cared about crime the 90s saw california pass it's three strikes law, feds passed Megan's law, the clinton crime bill, mandatory sentences etc. The politicians were responding to public demands to do something about the high crime rate.
Around 2009 or so over a weekend I made several small charges that I had money for. I later remembered I had an automatic payment due that Monday for a loc with the bank. I deposited cash on a Sunday in the atm to cover everything. The bank resolved the debits first by largest amount to smallest, then credits, they hit me with 350 in fees. Had they resolved it in temporal order there would have been no fees.
@wanyeburkett For SF it's the property crime. I don't want to deal with having my car windows broken. SF doesn't offer anything that's worth that risk and there are lots of other places to go and do things around here.
@TheArmedLiberal@SeanTrende J6 was an attack on the politicians by people who don't normally riot. The 2020 riots were attacks on the public by people who regularly riot. The crackdown on the j6ers was because it was personal for the political class and to dissuade the right from adopting riots.
I find the whole debate on the right about the life prospects of the young extremely confusing. As far as I can make out, the youth are arguing that (1) the *system* in which they are condemned to struggle is harmful and unjust and that (2) it can and should be changed. It’s simply not a relevant response to that argument to give them advice about what they should do *as individuals* within that unjust system, on the question-begging assumption that the system itself cannot or should not be changed.
@KeenanPeachy I don't think it will change much. The fires in Napa and Santa Rosa didn't change anything. The fires in Tahoe had minimal impact, you can rake up your pine needles twice a year now! It's climate change what can be done?
