My good friend Ashley Tellis may have been careless with classified documents (though less than the current US president) but meeting with Chinese officials is part of his f*ucking job. Also, to the best of my knowledge he is not a DoS employee.
I first met Ashley Tellis in 2002 and he has been unfailingly polite and thoughtful in countless interactions since that time, even when we have disagreed on substantive matters. I wish him fairness and compassion as the legal process unfolds.
King Kohli will not be seen in whites playing for India anymore! It will take some time to sink in. These few images reflect who he has been. Gentlemanly and friendly off the field; agressive to the point of being abusive on the field, pensive & thoughtful at times, highly wound, a veritable bundle of energy, leader of men, a fitness fiend & so much more.
For Indian cricket it is time to re-build. Tendulkar in his farewell speech at the Wankhede had picked two men who he said could break all his records - both of them have annouced their retirement within a few days of each other.. Thank you @imVkohli for the memories, the joy and the despair but above all for being Virat Kohli!

What an immense legacy he leaves - from interfaith work to heritage conservation, from hospitals to sustainable development initiatives that turned ancient forts into sensitively designed hotels. Thinking too of the grandfather from whom he took over: Aga Khan III was at the forefront of a modernising agenda for India’s Muslims in the early 20th century - which I wrote about in ‘Broken Threads.’
A huge loss for India. The greatest tribute I can pay is that I literally could not have the life I have today, if it wasn't for Dr Singh, PM Rao and a group of technocrats led by Montek Ahluwalia. Om Shanti, Dr Singh. And thank you for all you did! https://t.co/e2nZ1I7HMz
Saddened tonight to learn that Gen Sir Mike Jackson has died. He was a remarkable communicator with a fierce intellect. During the operation to secure Kosovo he took me into his confidence many times, and a friendship grew out of that. Sending condolences to his wife and family
Happy Independence Day 🇮🇳! A day to celebrate and rededicate to the ultimate idealistic project...of an equal, pluralistic, inclusive. progressive, democratic Republic!
Ready to do great things with @OpenSociety’s new president,
@NowrojeeOSF. Binaifer embodies the spirit of our organization and mission, and I’m excited for this next chapter of her leadership.

I became a lawyer because I believe in justice. I wanted to work to support people who are struggling for human rights. I am honored to continue this work as president of @OpenSociety, as the first woman to lead the organization. https://t.co/ElK5pNzO3z
It’s the privilege of my life to represent the place I grew up in and being the first British Bangladeshi to be a Member of Parliament. Delighted to be standing to represent the new constituency of Bethnal Green & Stepney. This is our chance for a Labour government #VoteLabour 🌹
This day 50 years ago, India under PM Indira Gandhi demonstrated the country’s sovereign right to choose its nuclear future. And the Buddha smiled.

Fiftieth anniversary ought to be big but for many of our media personalities, history began only in 2014.
‘Understandably, Ukrainian leaders are on edge, demanding insistently why Europe and the US are not following through on the promises they made.
In Kyiv there is a sense of abandonment - and in life there is no worse betrayal than being abandoned by ‘your own’.

We welcome @NowrojeeOSF, who has been serving as vice president, as the new president of the Open Society Foundations. @malloch_brown will step down in June. https://t.co/7S3xGY5T84
