Some highlights from last year in the garden 🌿
2024 saw even more friends join us for growing, chatting and drinking plenty of tea and coffee, as well as being the year that the garden became even more accessible with the building of our accessibility beds! 👏
GOOD ROOTS IS 3! 🥳 Three years ago we broke ground in our little patch of Stenhouse and planted the first of our fruit trees 🌿 Since then we’ve built several beds, grown a variety of tasty fruit and veg and met loads of brilliant people in our neighbourhood 💚
The Good Roots Garden is getting ready to open its gates once more! Today a small team of helpers came to check out the progress on the new accessibility path and to build and prepare the accessible raised beds, as well as build some new ground beds 🌿 Opening date coming soon!
GOOD NEWS! We reached our £1200 fundraising target to build wheelchair-friendly raised beds! 🥳
A HUGE thank you to all who gave to make this possible - thanks to you we can make Good Roots more accessible to more friends of the garden 🌿🤩
☀️ SUMMER SESSIONS 🌿
Summer is fast approaching and the garden is gearing for some fun in (hopefully!) the sun ☀️
Good Roots will be open on Thursdays throughout June-Aug for gardening, activities, coffee and chat. Come and join us from 10am! 😄
Getting the garden ready tomorrow’s FUNDRAISER BRAAI! 🥳
Join us for a South African BBQ tomorrow (11 June from 12.30pm) and help us raise money for the community garden! 🌭
We want to raise £1200 to build wheelchair-friendly raised beds to make Good Roots more accessible 🌿
You are invited to the GOOD ROOTS FUNDRAISER! 🌿🙌
Next Sunday 11th June we are having a braai (South African BBQ) to raise money for the community garden! 🌱
Join us from 12.30pm for delicious food in the garden - everyone is welcome so get inviting friends and family! 🫶
Forget-me-not fun fact: the yellow ring at the flower’s centre fades to white after pollination, signalling to insects there’s no more nectar. The insects therefore learn to visit the flowers that haven’t yet been pollinated, ensuring no forget-me-not flower is forgotten 🤙
It was great to open the garden back up on Thursday and welcome back new and familiar faces in our community 🙌
Good Roots is open again on Thurs 20 April and then every Thurs from 10am - keep an eye out for upcoming weekend dates too! We’d love to see you in the garden 🥕🌽🥦
The garden has had a long winter break & we’re excited to get it back up running! 🥕
Join in on Thurs 6 April @ 10am by cutting grass, clearing beds, prepping & drinking tea 🌱☕️
The garden will be open every Thurs (excl. 13 April). Stay tuned for upcoming weekend dates too!
Would be an incredible achievement to be elected leader of your party, become Prime Minister, kill the queen, tank the pound and get fired all within one menstrual cycle. Unreal girlbossing.
