The Federal government has allocated a budget of Rs. 135 billion for education in 2022-23, showing a decrease of 3% compared with previous year. For the upcoming fiscal year, the development budget of HEC has been increased by 4%.

With an increase of 14% over previous year, a budget of Rs. 302 billion is earmarked for #education in #Sindh for 2021-22. This constitutes 18.5% of provincial budget. The recurrent and development budgets for education have been increased by 15% and 10%, respectively

Government of the Punjab has increased the education budget by 13% in 2021-22, with an allocation of Rs. 443 billion. This constitutes 17.5% of provincial budget. The recurrent budget has been increased by 9% in 2021-22, whereas development budget has seen a huge increase of 57%.

The Federal #education budget has been increased by 19% in 2020-21. Major portion of this increase owes to the development budget, which has seen an increase of 39% compared with 10% increase in recurrent budget. The development budget of #HEC has increased by 44%.

Pakistan is currently spending around 2.3% of its GDP on #education, according to Pakistan Economic Survey 2019-20. In line with international and national commitments, the percentage share should be increased consistently over the next years.
