@rgiss11 I feel a lot of teams do this. Use regular season data and experiences to design their team and then they wonder why it isn't working in the playoffs.
There needs to be more of a focus on looking at the playoffs and realize that it is a different game than the regular season.
@KeithSmithNBA I know the DR is baseball first for sure, but they've got a lot of basketball fans there too. 2016 Finals had plenty of watch parties when I was there. Lots of Warriors fans and LeBron fans.
@inpredict@A6thi Shot quality metric had him at a 22% chance of making that shot (pull up 3 in transition for a poor 3 point shooter of the dribble). Even a 36% chance of scoring at the rim gives the same win probability (assuming a miss either way is pretty much 0% chance of winning)
@MG_Schindler I don't know if I'd call it an all time great series when he had a 3 game stretch of 6, 8, and 13 points. Definitely an all-time game 6 and great in 4 of the 7 games. Plenty of all-time great series by guys who showed up each game.
Maybe Ben Simmons is sitting out this season so that he can come back and win most improved player next season.
Wouldn't be the first time sitting out a year helped win him an award.
@ChrisVernonShow @KevinOConnorNBA I think it's more that you oversimplify the problem. The biggest issue is the perimeter defense and defensive scheme. I do agree Rudy isn't exempt from criticism, he had some poor moments in the last game and doesn't have the versatility of some other top defenders.
@ChrisVernonShow Such a strawman argument. Let's pretend the people I don't agree with all say this one thing (which they don't) that applies in every situation.
The NBA has released their All-Time European teams for #NBA75:
1st team:
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Luka Doncic
Pau Gasol
Dirk Nowitzki
Tony Parker
2nd team:
Nikola Jokic
Toni Kukoc
Draลพen Petrovic
Arvydas Sabonis
Peja Stojakovic
@stevejones20 I mean this is a great shot and the Jazz still have the number 1 offense in the league. Charlotte's defense is near the bottom and most of these plays are just the Jazz missing high percentage shots.
Here's the alarming trend we're seeing right now in whistles:
The change in shooting fouls (per 2-pt attempt) in the last *4 months* is larger than the change between the lowest fouling and highest fouling month from 2008 to the 2020 shutdown.
@AndrewDBailey Regular season and postseason would more heavily weight regular season no? What do the numbers look like for just postseason?
I know the sample size is smaller, but I want to know how the narrative most people have regarding them compares to the actual numbers.
I believe this is well documented & relatively obvious butโฆ
I can confirm that if Donovan Mitchell were to ever ask out of Utah, itโs believed Miami would be his first choice and New York a more distant second as preferred destinations according to a league source.
