A trip to Mangalore is incomplete without a visit to Ideal icecream parlour
They have now introduced a premium range "Gold Series"
I had the Golden Gadbad
One scoop each of California Almonds, Iranian Pistachios and Turkish Hazelnut flavours
The flavours are rich and not overly sweet. The taste of the real dry fruit rules the flavours
The icecream itself is much thicker than the normal range
Quite an exquisite experience
Must try!
True Story
I wanted to study engineering. After I passed my HSC, I was upset. I had expected PCM at least 90% but got much less
I couldnt get admission in Mumbai as I belonged to the open category.
I could have anyways got admission for engineering in colleges outside Mumbai. But we couldnt afford it. So I studied Bsc Maths and did well
Another friend was in the same boat. But he was eligible for reservation. He could have got admission in Mumbai if he used the quota
Both his parents were doctors and doing well. His father insisted that they will not apply for the reserved quota as my friend had got all the resources and couldnt get the marks despite that
People who deserve reservations are the poor who dont have the money to provide all the support and resources to the kids
It should be a helping hand to underprivileged and not for everyone who have been born with a spoon in their mouth
Uncle is no longer there but he still remains one of the most respected people I have met in my life
Reflective Post
Today's values are very different from what they were say 10 years back
Maybe due to the overall stress, most people have become self centric. The ethic of standing by your word is very much diluted
Most commitments sound hollow
This is not a generalisation cos I still have friends who can go any extent for me
Coming back to ethics, we cant change anyone. We cant change how anyone thinks or behaves
All we can do is just be ourselves and be authentic to ourselves. Yes, it is a bit difficult to survive today
But what matters is how comfortable we are with ourselves
Afterall, we can lie to the whole world, we cant lie to ourselves
The "Urea Trap" is closing on us. ⛽️📉
The escalating Gulf conflict isn't just about the price of petrol at the pump: it’s about the cost of the rotis on our plates.
80% of Urea’s production cost is Natural Gas.
As global supply chains fracture, our chemical- dependent food security is hitting a wall.
We have built our "Modern Farm" on a petroleum pipeline that is now on fire.
High gas prices = Fertilizer shortages = Food inflation. This is a house of cards we can no longer ignore.
The best escape for us?
We must return to the Bos Indicus ecosystem to secure our sovereignty:
✅ Fertility Independence: Gomaya (Bio-fertility) replaces imported, gas-derived Urea.
✅ Resilient Processing: Using the strength of indigenous breeds for high-value processing (like traditional oil ghanis) to reduce rural electricity/fuel dependence.
✅ Soil Autonomy: Moving from "Input-Heavy" to "Self-Sustaining" cycles. When natural fertilizers are used, they dont drain the soil of its natural nutrients.
This is a self-sustaining model for ensuring soil quality over the years
The second and third point also are areas where we can use older cattle who in other systems are declared wasteful and slaughtered.
Cow slaughter is one of the highest contributors of green house gases to the environment
This is actually a simple and effective solution to all our concerns related to the food shortage that is likely in the immediate future
No wonder our vedic sciences have worshipped the cow
The Cow isn't just a spiritual icon for us; she is India's ultimate Strategic Asset against global energy shocks. It is time we restore the Divine Balance.

17 years. Thousands of hours on midnight dialysis. Yet, I never stopped working as a strategist or trekking the Sahyadris.

A Note on the Dairy Industry in India
The conversation around plant-based milk is growing louder. Almond milk, oat milk, soy milk - all presented as clean alternatives. But here’s what often gets lost: India’s dairy industry is not just about milk. It’s about people, culture, economy, and survival.
India is the largest producer and consumer of dairy in the world, contributing over 23% of global milk production. The Indian dairy sector supports over 80 million rural households, with more than 70% of dairy farmers being women. It is the single largest agricultural commodity in India, contributing to 5% of the national GDP.
This is not a niche industry. This is the backbone of rural India.
Most Indian dairy farms are small-scale and decentralized-not large industrial complexes. The average herd size is 2 to 3 cattle per household. These animals are not exploited; they are part of a symbiotic rural economy where milk, dung, and even urine are utilized fully -for food, fuel, fertilizer, and tradition.
Let’s talk sustainability:
Indian cows and buffaloes are fed largely on agricultural by-products, not imported feed. Their existence complements farming, not competes with it. This is integrated agriculture at its finest, practiced long before modern sustainability frameworks were ever written.
Sure, plant-based alternatives are welcome-for choice, for health, for novelty. But don’t call them “better” by default.
Almond milk production uses massive amounts of water.
Soy and oat cultivation often rely on monocultures and imported raw material.
Processing, fortification, packaging, and global transport all leave a footprint.
Let’s be clear:
•The dairy industry employs millions.
•It nourishes over a billion people every single day.
•It repurposes waste and supports ecosystems.
•It is deeply rooted in Indian culture, religion, and economy.
You want to innovate? Innovate.
You want to build something new? Build it.
But don’t undermine a sector that is sustainable, circular, inclusive, and intelligent-just because the marketing optics are shinier elsewhere.
Happy Diwali everyone!
