Today, we commemorate the 57th Anniversary of Bank Nationalisation , a landmark moment that strengthened financial inclusion, expanded access to banking, and contributed significantly to India's socio-economic development.

Respect is never a one-way street. If someone chooses to show disrespect, they cannot expect respect in return. No one is obligated to be holier than the priest.
As is the evil so is the remedy. Respect earns respect, and contempt invites consequences.
#StopAssaultOnBankers
A customer abused a bank employee at the counter.
Used harsh words. Questioned his competence. Made a scene in front of everyone.
What happened next?
The bank called the employee and told him to apologize to the customer.
Not the customer. The employee.
I have heard this story more times than I can count. Across PSU banks, across branches, across states. The faces change. The script does not.
And every time I hear it, I ask the same question nobody wants to answer:
What does this do to a person?
You wake up at 7. You reach the branch by 9. You handle 200 customers, 15 targets, 3 inspections, and 1 rude officer. You stay late. You miss your kid’s function. You do all of this for a salary that barely crosses Rs 40,000 in hand at junior levels.
And when someone comes to your counter and decides to insult you, the institution you work for tells you to say sorry to that person.
Not because you did something wrong.
But because the customer is always right. Even when the customer is wrong.
This is not a customer service policy.
This is an instruction to forget you have dignity.
And the saddest part is that most employees comply. Not because they want to. Because they are afraid. Afraid of a complaint. Afraid of a transfer. Afraid of an adverse remark in their ACR.
The bank knows this. That is why the policy works.
I spent years inside a PSU bank. I saw what this does to people slowly. A person who joined with confidence starts walking with his head down. Not because he is weak. Because the system spent years teaching him to be small.
Here is what nobody says out loud:
A monthly salary does not buy your self-respect. Your employer has no right to it. And a customer who abuses you is not a stakeholder. He is a person who behaved badly and was never told so.
If bank managements genuinely respected their employees, they would say this to the customer:
“We understand your concern. But our staff will not be spoken to this way. Please raise your complaint in writing.”
Full stop.
That one sentence would change the entire culture.
But that sentence has never been said. And that tells you everything you need to know about how this institution views the people who run it.
You are not a puppet in a salary bracket.
Act like it. And demand to be treated like it.
If you are a banker and this has happened to you, drop a comment. Let people know this is real.

The Government should take note: the demand for a 5-Day Banking Week is so dear to bankers that even at 13,859 ft, they carry that message and proudly unfurl its flag.

#StopBankerSuicides
Deeply saddened by the unfortunate demise of Shri Bishal Brata Roy, a newly recruited DRO at Bank of Baroda. This tragic incident highlights the importance of continuously reviewing workplace conditions, employee well-being, and support systems in the banking sector.
The time calls for constructive introspection on training, staffing levels, workload management, transfer policies, mental health support, and employee-friendly HR practices.
A strong banking system must be built not only on performance, but also on the well-being, dignity, and professional growth of its workforce.
Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Banking sector can't thrive on profitability matrix alone. Its true success is when people feel respected, supported, & heard. Unions & management must foster a culture where mental health can be given importance, else, tragedies will continue & industry will keep on flourishing

Lack of clear advancement opportunities is a leading cause of voluntary turnover, with many employees quitting due to perceived inequities & favouritism. A transparent and logical promotion process is essential to eliminate favoritism, build trust, and motivate employees.
Indian Economy can't move an inch without PSBs : for that they don't want to keep Bankers out of sight. But Bankers assured to work daily 40 mnts more in lieu of 2 more Saturdays off. Even then what's the problem ? Make it clear to common bankers.
