45 year old Nigerian British private hire driver Kolawole Erunkulu has been sentenced to six years in prison in the UK after falling asleep at the wheel and causing a fatal crash.

Erunkulu had reportedly driven for around 53 hours over three days before his vehicle struck 59 year
old Philip Dray, who died at the scene in Surrey. Dashcam footage reportedly showed signs that Erunkulu was struggling to stay awake.

He pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and has also been banned from driving for eight years.

But beyond the tragedy lies a difficult question: When people work exhausting hours because they need to feed their families, pay rent and survive rising costs, can we really treat exhaustion as simply a personal choice?

What happens when people cannot afford to rest?

What I am about to say is coming from a place of deep hurt.

I wanted to quote the tweet, but I am choosing to say this instead.

I can see that we have finally villainized and demonized preachers who raise righteous concerns in the body of Christ.

He doesn't deserve to be treated this way.

If some preachers are constantly talking about sinful and unholy things in the body, shouldn't that cause us to reflect?

But we have created a church ecosystem where passive silence and tolerance of unholiness are seen as virtues.

And the one who righteously and rightly speaks out against unchristian practices in the body is seen as the troublemaker.

Again, he doesn't deserve the way you all treat him whenever he rightly cries out about how our standard of holiness has deteriorated.

We think the opposite of holy is unholy.

No.

It is the common.

And that is what we have done and normalized in the Nigerian Church.

We are common. So common that the line between us and the world is practically blurred.

And the one who cries out and tries to draw that demarcation again is asked, “Why aren't you focusing on your church?”

This line was the most heartbreaking to me.

So, we no longer think of ourselves as a body, but as individual churches?

This is the result of the founder-focused model of the Pentecostal-Charismatic paradigm in this nation.

“My church.”

“My people.”

No.

It is the body of Christ.

And what happens to any church in this land will affect every one of us.

Ah, this is sad.

Our preachers and pastors, ministers and ministries have endorsed and normalized the common.

Our music is common.

Our sermons are common.

Our lifestyles are common.

Our behaviour is common.

And the one who raises his righteous voice against that becomes the enemy.

I won't say much now.

But it is God who will judge every man, pastor, minister, or ministry that has normalized the common in our midst.

Any minister who has used the wisdom of the world to preach the message of the cross, God will be the judge.

Any minister who has contributed to blurring the line because of worldly and self-focused validation, God will judge.

Any minister or ministry that has failed to preach the whole counsel of God because of the crowd or the coins that might be affected, God will judge.

And to the ministers who are hurting, feeling alone and isolated, hounded and falsely accused because they stand for the truth:

God is watching you.

God is with you.

I pray for strength for you.

And when the Lord comes, just as He rewarded the sons of Zadok and rejected the sons of Levi from ministering to Him, He will reward you.

That's a promise.

God is on the throne.

And He is for us, and for you.

I believe it is right for me to do a follow-up to this tweet.

Many have said that I am simply being proud, arrogant, and tearing fathers down.

That is not my intention.

This is simply an honest attempt for us all to see the roots of many of the doctrines that trouble us today.

In 1947, Oral Roberts was experiencing financial difficulties in running his tent crusades.

So, he came up with something he called “blessing pacts.”

He told donors that when they gave money, God would give them a “sevenfold” return.

By the 1950s, he had systematized these ideas into a doctrine, teaching that redemption had purchased both health and wealth for us.

By the 1970s, he published the book below and articulated what he called the laws of “covenant” prosperity:

Look to God as your source.
Give a seed so it can be multiplied.
Expect a miracle.

This was the birth of the modern Prosperity Gospel, which we all talk about today, brothers and sisters.

Much of the seed and prosperity theology you see around today can be traced through this stream.

Oral Roberts helped popularize and spread it.

But how did Hagin get into the picture?

Well, Hagin did not preach Oral Roberts’ version of the Prosperity Gospel.

His emphasis was Word of Faith, the teaching that faith operates according to spiritual laws.

And when a person believes and confesses using this faith law, they can create any physical realities they want.

This is where the famous “Rhema” emphasis comes in.

Why did I group him with Kenyon?

Because E. W. Kenyon pioneered a particular form of mind-and-confession theology.

This is where our identity in Christ was connected to dominion over realities such as poverty and sickness.

Now, this doesn’t really look bad, does it?

Well, not necessarily.

But there is a historical and cultural context that influenced E. W. Kenyon.

I won't go into all of that here.

What is particularly interesting, however, is the documented debate over Kenyon’s relationship with the New Thought movement and the extent to which his language and theology resemble earlier New Thought ideas.

And then we come to Kenneth Hagin.

Hagin popularized many of the ideas associated with Kenyon to a much wider Pentecostal audience.

When he denied this, D. R. McConnell's A Different Gospel explicitly presented a section titled “Hagin’s Plagiarism of Kenyon”.

It argues that Hagin repeatedly reproduced Kenyon's wording and ideas without attribution.

The book gives side-by-side comparisons from multiple Kenyon works.

So, what Kenyon pioneered was popularized by Hagin.

Finally, we get to Kenneth Copeland.

The figure who brought together elements of Oral Roberts-style prosperity teaching with Hagin’s Word of Faith theology.

Copeland studied at Oral Roberts University.

He taught that God created the world even by the spiritual law of faith.

So, if you confess by faith, even God cannot influence the outcome despite His sovereignty in works like The Laws of Prosperity (1974).

According to Copeland, Adam was an exact duplicate of God ("God manifested in the flesh").

This was where we got the "little gods" doctrine which asserts that believers possess divine nature and absolute authority.

Furthermore, Copeland taught that the Fall legally stripped God of His authority over the earth.

This made Satan the legal god of this world and required God to seek human permission (via covenants with Abraham) to intervene in earthly affairs.

He taught that God created the world through spiritual laws connected to faith and when this is confessed, even God cannot stop the outcome since He created the laws.

This became part of the theological framework through which Word of Faith teachers explained God's intervention in the earth, human authority, Satan's authority, and the believer's authority.

And this is the point I am trying to make.

I am not questioning whether these men were called by God.

I am not saying they did nothing good.

I am asking us to be honest enough to examine the theological streams that shaped the movement they passed down to us.

Because if we want genuine revival, we must be humble enough to examine what we inherited, even when it came through people we deeply respected.

Update: The boy who claimed a Nigerian doctor removed his kidney. Investigation reportedly revealed that he had willingly agreed to sell it but wasn’t paid.

According to VDM, his friend lured him to the hospital, where the kidney was removed.

Police later arrested the friend and discovered that he was also missing his left kidney.

He reportedly confessed to selling his own kidney for ₦7m and later becoming an agent who lured others.

VDM claimed many people around Nyanya, Mararaba and Masaka may be walking around with one kidney.

He also said the suspect gave police the name of the hospital and the identity of the key agent allegedly behind the syndicate.

Me: But ₦7m is the cheapest price I’ve ever heard ooo. 😭

LEGALISM - A form of witchcraft
A short story!

I was invited to a church today to name a newborn child. It started at 4pm till the naming proper. All the men of God ministered so well and powerfully, both in the prayer session and the word.

Suddenly, the host pastor of the church stood up towards the end of the program and he was concerned only about some female visitors that came for the naming ceremony, what was his concern, they were on trousers...

The host pastor was very passionate, with deep sorrow of heart while expressing his ignorance with deep sense of self-righteousness. He turned to the church and said "you all know me ooo", the people responded "no nonsense man". That alone increases his pride and he said "you ladies on trousers are going to hell, you are sinning with that" and to him, he was a sound and rigid preacher of righteousness without knowing he is actually initiating his people into witchcraft and witch hunt.

Automatically, any woman on trouser is not born again, will die and go to hell. This is legalism, it is witchcraft, it is wicked. These are the things some people fight on this app. The moment we don't like it, we demonize it. If we don't understand it, we despise it. If we fear it, we call it Satan.

Funny enough, many will want knowledge to bow to such ignorance because it makes them feel good.

Finally, I get to start something of an explication of the doctrine of salvation, and something of a response to some of the contortions being peddled against those of us who push back at hypergrace.

To be clear: the problem with hypergrace is not simply the belief in OSAS. Properly qualified, Calvinists believe in OSAS. So the issue is deeper than that. OSAS is just a convenient pretense, a cunning smokescreen with which hypergracers seek to arm-twist the church into ceding them a seat at the table, and thereby bully the bride of Christ into investing hypergrace, even if unwittingly, with legitimacy.

It is in the text that Jesus is the author of "eternal salvation." No Christian should deny that. So, believing in eternal salvation is not the contention. The contention is something as sly as it is sinister. It is the sleight of hand, the sophistry by which hypergrace smuggles aberration into the faith. It is the hermeneutical move that flattens the nuanced landscape of biblical doctrine into a strangulated and sterilized wasteland. The land is lush-green, but hypergrace makes it anemic. At its best, hypergrace would plant a full stop where God, in scripture, ordains a comma or a (semi)colon. These are the issues.

It is a matter of doctrinal responsibility to unpack and clarify them. It is incumbent on those of us burdened with the sacred privilege of teaching to hold up the banner of true witness in this day of Marcion-like maneuvers and empty novelties.

There are easily a dozen critical points of departure in hypergrace – points of departure from the historic apostolic faith we inherited, as it came to us through the godly, faithful testimonies and labours of Prophets, Sages, and Martyrs. The vacated and limp novelties peddled by hypergrace must be identified for what they are. Another gospel! Yes, hypergrace is another gospel – one that is (for instance) reluctant to accept God's unambiguous, personal self-identification as both the God of Love and the God of Justice.

All I intend to do for now is not to lay a finger on every one of the myriad errors at the heart of hypergrace. I want to look at the doctrine of salvation, and use the exercise to refute the faulty soteriology of hypergrace.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your Word says, "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." (Proverbs 22:7). Lord, I ask You to break every chain of debt and financial bondage over my life.

Your Word also says, "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19). Father, supply every financial need in my life. Open supernatural doors of provision and send helpers to locate me.

Lord, as You canceled impossible situations for Your people, let every burden of debt be lifted. Give me wisdom to manage my finances and bless the work of my hands. "The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it." (Proverbs 10:22).

Father, let every spirit of lack, poverty, and financial stagnation be broken in Jesus' name. According to Deuteronomy 28:12, open Your good treasure unto me, bless all the work of my hands, and let me lend to many nations and not borrow.

I declare Your promise in Psalm 37:25: "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread." I will not beg. I will not live in lack. My household shall experience Your divine provision.

According to 2 Corinthians 9:8, let Your grace abound toward me so that I always have all sufficiency in all things and abound in every good work.

I receive divine favor, unexpected financial breakthroughs, debt cancellation, restoration, and overflowing abundance. I declare that every financial burden is turning into a testimony. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

You have to be loyal to the Holy Spirit. I was listening to Pastor Enenche say something on television. He shared a story about a pastor who was invited to an event somewhere, and as the person was praying, they felt a burden so strong warning them not to go. However, the pressure and attachment to go were also incredibly heavy.
To navigate this, the pastor stayed in the place of prayer and spoke in tongues for twenty-three hours. Afterward, he contacted the organizers and told them, *"I cannot come."*
The organizers became deeply offended and angry. They said, *"We already paid for your ticket. We have put money into this. We have done all of this preparation. How can you say you are not coming?"* But he maintained his stance that he could not go.
Later on, those same people began to rejoice and thank God. The very plane they had bought the ticket for crashed, and all one hundred and twenty-three people on board tragically died. The Holy Spirit had shown that minister things to come. That is why the absolute worst thing you can ever do is to betray a leading of the Spirit just to please men.
Think of a character like Mr. Percival, whom people might mock and tease, calling him "Percy, Percy." If God is going to use you significantly at an early age, He will often allow you to suffer rejection early on. He does this so that you become detached from the weight of human opinion.
The major problem for many people right now comes down to boundaries. You find it impossible to make hard decisions because you are still yielding to the desire to please people. If you do not break out of that trajectory, you will look back at the end of your life with deep regrets.
When Satan wants to manipulate you into making the absolute worst decision for your destiny, he will often use the person you love and like the most to try to influence you. The path of a true Christian can be a deeply lonely one. It means walking in obedience to things God has shown you that nobody else around you can see, even if they mock you for it. But regardless of the isolation, you must walk that path.

I’m not sure why Eternal Security continues to be an issue in the faith, but it’s not new.

First, preachers should be more humble and accommodating on the pulpit. Calling people who believe or preach eternal security “demonic” is really poor from Pastor Dolapo. These are young men God is using, and they will be better.

Second, this idea that, it is the people who preach eternal salvation that are making people sin, is very immature if not wicked, but much more opposite of what scripture teaches. Scripture actually clearly says that it is the LAW that causes people to sin.

Then to the main exegesis, scripture actually teaches Eternal Security. It’s so clearly written that, the best you can do is present other parts of scripture (valid) that appear to contradict it (though there’s no contradiction in scripture. Not to recklessly call people who believe in eternal security demonic.

I can give you a plethora of scriptures that unmistakably back eternal security, and I’m not sure why it is so regularly demonized. The best we can do is keep engaging with humility:

John 6:37–40
John 6:47
John 6:54
John 10:27–30
(I have given you eternal life, you cannot perish nor be snatched out of my hands)

I can reference even MORE scriptures than I already have here to prove eternal salvation.

The fact there are other references that warn the believer not to fall off, does not make Eternal Salvation heretic or demonic. Preachers should be more humble. What you’re calling demonic is actually the written word.
