The following thread consists of videos of President @HassanSMohamud stating, pledging, and promising in the most unambiguous and clearest way possible that he will not do what he is actually doing now.

That is why many Somalis are furious with him, and that is what makes him the wrong party in the unfolding constitutional and political problems Somalia faces in May 2026 — 9 days before his mandate ends.

This first video is from 2021, and the president himself added English captions, and that was during Farmaajo’s time, when the president was an opposition leader.

He explains that the opposition (including him) even refused to sit with the then President @M_Farmaajo (because he was so unreasonable, he says), and that the international community facilitated such meetings (which he said happened at the international community camp at the Mogadishu airport).

President Hassan then added that the next meeting may happen in another capital, like Kampala (as has been the case when political actors in the past became so intransigent, mediation used to happen overseas).

Because of how unreasonable President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been acting, the republic is at a breaking point, and I suspect that if, in the 9 days left of his mandate, the president does not reverse course, the republic will suffer in immeasurable ways.

Hence, this collection of videos of the president, and I recommend you listen and read the transcript because His Excellency the President — who is one of the most articulate Somali politicians — is making a case against himself and on behalf of the rest of us.

South-West conflict: Military approach taken by the FGS will NOT resolve anything. President @HassanSMohamud should seek a political solution. I think it is possible to reach a deal.
South-West state is one of the most fragile states in Somalia. There have been humanitarian crises going on in the state. There are hundreds of IDP camps surrounding Baydhaba. Fighting over those vulnerable and displaced people is not acceptable.
On the question of elections in South-West, there must a competitive process that all rival politicians from the state are part of. Unilateral process will not lead to a legitimate outcome and it will not work.

The contested and one-sided election in Muqdisho in December 2025 is similar to the law passed by the House of the People in June 2020, which allocated 13 senators to the capital. This reflects the same malicious intent to exploit the sentiments of Mogadishu's residents and term extension. Ultimately, the outcome of this fanfare will conclude just as the previous one did, with an indirect election and in the Halane tent.
