🇵🇰 We were in Rawalpindi yesterday, a city next to Islamabad (Pakistan) and one of our brothers was giving da’wah to a few car workers.

One of them was wearing an amulet, so after explaining the Sunnah to him, he removed the amulet (taweez), alhamdulillāh. Watch what happened in the video.

Shaikh Ibn Bāz said: It is not permissible to hang them upon a child or upon anyone else due to the saying of the Prophet ﷺ:

من تعلق تميمة فلا أتم الله له، ومن تعلق ودعة فلا ودع الله له

“Whoever hangs an amulet, may Allah not fulfil for him [that which he seeks]; and whoever hangs a shell, may Allah not grant him peace and tranquillity.”

And in another narration:

من تعلق تميمة فقد أشرك

“Whoever hangs an amulet has committed shirk.”

Thus, all amulets must be prohibited, and this is the correct view due to the strength and clarity of its evidence.

Therefore, if we were to permit amulets made from the Qur’an and from righteous supplications, the door would be opened wide, and people would begin hanging whatever they wished.

Then, when one of them is reproached, he would simply say: “This is from the Qur’an,” or, “These are righteous supplications.” Thus, the door would be opened, the breach would widen, and all manner of amulets would come to be worn.

There is also a third reason: such amulets may be taken into the lavatory and other places of filth. It is well known that the Speech of Allah is to be honoured and kept far removed from such places.

Food for thought for the intelligent Salafi.

Those Scholars who held photography to be permissible were not talking about:

- the selfie culture of the 21st century filled with showing off through posing, pouting, flexing, applying fake filters etc.
- excessively photographing oneself while flaunting ones riches or expensive possessions
- photography of oneself while indulging in harām such as music, free-mixing, and the imitation of sinners and disbelievers

Those who use photography to do the above lowly and/or impermissible things should not utilise the speech of people of knowledge who were known for their Taqwa, humility, righteousness and abstention from the Dunyah to justify their own whims and desires. In fact, these people have no business speaking about the Religion of Allāh.

Oh Salafi. From following the advice of Muhammad ibn Sirīn about checking carefully whom you take your religion from is; that you do not take religion - or religious articles, material, posts - from someone who is not upright and upon goodness themselves, up until they repent publicly if they engaged in public sin, rectify themselves, and clarify the error of their ways (see Surah Baqarah v. 160).

It truly warms the heart to witness nearly 30 brothers gathering on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays to study the Arabic language across different levels. Some travel more than an hour each way, and some even sleep overnight at the Masjid for the weekend to avoid the long drive back and forth, all out of love for knowledge and dedication to learning the language of the Qur’an.

Even more beautiful is seeing the strong attendance at the weekly lessons in Aqīdah and Fiqh, along with the children’s weekend morning programs. These are signs of goodness and signs that Allāh wishes good for a people when He places in its people a love for beneficial knowledge and eagerness to gain correct understanding of His religion.

May Allāh preserve our youth, increase them in sincerity, knowledge, and righteous action, and keep their hearts firm upon the truth. May He bless those who strive, those who teach, those who support, and those who sacrifice their time and comfort for His sake.

These gatherings are seeds being planted today that, by Allāh’s permission, will become strength, leadership, and guidance for generations to come.
