PLAYERS: You are never a neutral teammate. You are either making things better or making things worse on your team. You are either helping your teammates or not. You are either encouraging or not. You are either providing a good example or not. Great teams have great teammates.
@SpiritAirlines strikes again! Currently sitting on the tarmac (for 2 hours now) after a 2 hour delay waiting to take off. Flight NK 226 was scheduled to depart at 3:17. It is now 6:48 and haven’t left yet. Blaming weather, but this is inefficiency.
After a 6 hour flight delay and missing our connecting flight, we are now sitting on the runway in FLL because “our gate is currently occupied” at 2:30 am!!! Disappointed (again) with @SpiritAirlines 😡😡😡
We can’t control the home environment of our students, but we can surely control their classroom environment. When they’re under our care, they can feel safe, feel supported, and feel loved.
Don’t forget about this RAIN or SHINE event at HHS on Saturday! Proceeds go to support scholarships for HHS students and Katie Beth Carter Memorial Institute in Tomas Borge, Nicaragua.
If you want to improve the well-being of a child, you let them sing in a choir, you let them learn an instrument, and you let them get lost in all of the beauty, support, and connections that come from such things. That’s what you do. You immerse them in music and music-making.
Once you’ve sung in a choir, or played in a band or orchestra, or played in any music ensemble, you’re never the same again. Your ears, your eyes, and your heart are opened up in ways not possible by any other means. Music feeds us, it nourishes us, and it brings us great joy.
I teach music, not just in the hope that my pupils will want to make music tomorrow, but in the hope that they’ll still want to be making music when they’re 80. The benefits of Music Education last (and permeate) a lifetime.
