@Ria1984 I believe that the INSET days came off the original holidays and were not added on. Teachers lost holiday, pupils got the same. They were called Baker days when first introduced. So if INSET days didn't exist children would still not be at school on those days .
@kazza_cupcake@DeputyGrocott Have you gone down by the coast ? We always find the area around the Lido is hotter and sunnier than other parts. Madeira is such a beautiful place to relax
@barrchristopher@SimonCalder@Ryanair@easyJet We came back at 8.00 pm yesterday . Machines kept failing so we went through the manned kiosks. Through it all in 10 minutes . Doesn't make sense that everyday is so different
@tes Well would you believe it?
10 heads have died so far, with exactly that pressure being recorded by their coroner as a contributory cause of death, including Ruth Perry.
How many more deaths - HT DEATHS, folks!! - will it take to realise that Ofsted is past its sell-by date?
Norway is reversing its mistaken 2016 decision to give every student an iPad, which damaged education immediately. Many countries are going back to books and handwriting. I hope many American schools will go back to analog next September, and let's see if that works for us too:
I wrote a short blog post about my new electricity market modelling tool, and how it shows us how the grid will change with CP2030. You can check out the tool here: https://t.co/mNz1eNDSE5
I’m hearing that Ofsted are struggling to recruit. Both HMI and OI.
Without inspectors, Ofsted would fall apart and if any of you do inspect, consider why, please. Why support an inspectorate which cause harm to your colleagues? Indeed, how could you?
I’ve been away for a bit. We haven’t been having the best time, to be honest. I’ve noticed a few things happening with Ofsted and their supporters recently, and I’ve written about it.
Ofsted, of course, are driving on regardless.

I can't get my head around the idea that Ofsted would think the messaging this week was a good idea. Terrible PR/messaging, disrespectful & in poor taste. Didn't want to go back to my relentless Ofsted-bashing dark days but we need to use our voices to speak truth to power.
🧵The implied narrative that educators have low aspirations for children (in a recent speech) is utterly infuriating. No teacher or leader’s wish is for mediocrity but some children arrive at school weighed down by multiple vulnerabilities, barriers & disadvantages, others don’t.
