@googlenest Nest 2nd gen already gave up after 3 years!!! E53 error on Y1. I checked and confirmed it's the Nest and not the HVAC.

@nestsupport hi, are the best services down in VA area? Nest is working fine locally but can't be accessed on the app or smart home hub.

@nestsupport Hmm, shows offline on both. I can tell from the router dashboard that it is connected to WiFi

@VerizonSupport One interesting thing is that it doesn't keep being incessantly like it does with dying batteries

@VerizonSupport The only alternative I can think of is that the ONT has some problem inside and is not getting AC power and just drained the battery

@VerizonSupport That's not right - I've tried that before. Is there more than one model of ONT? This one does not work if you remove the battery

@VerizonSupport My ONT needs to be replaced - it just stopped working again. I've reset it twice today.

@VerizonSupport I was able to get back online after a quick reset but there's got to be better options. I don't use the phone functionality so I don't need a battery backup and I have to replace these expensive batteries every yea. Not sure why it died again last night with even the new battery.

@VerizonSupport Actually that's not true. If the battery is dead the ONT does not let the service pass through. My ONT is now actually not charging the battery. So it's eating batteries - I changed the battery yesterday and it's already dead today. I need the ONT replaced.

@ChariotOtheDogs @VerizonSupport I had to replace the battery. Looks like the spikes kills these batteries easy. Typical crappy outdated tech.

#verizonoutage @VerizonSupport what is going on with the crappy BBUs??? Mine has been useless since this power outage... Power has been back for hours but FiOS is dead.
