Nutrition is something everyone struggles with, so whether it’s to my colleagues or my patients I want to stay updated with the latest nutritional news and be able to give them the reliable sources and websites for their own lifestyle changes @beh353#beh353
@taline261@beh353 This was surprising to read! I hadn’t thought about the relationship between gluten consumption and future health conditions, but it made a lot of sense after thinking about it from a step back, since even too much vitamins and minerals is an issue. @beh353#beh353
This is a fun recipe book! I don’t particularly like peanut butter but I have family members who can’t seem to get enough of it! Hopefully these recipes can spice up their peanut butter repertoire and satisfy their cravings @beh353#beh353

@EmmaDArpinoRD Thank you for your input in this week’s lecture! Your comments about food “addiction” really stood out to me, and I’m going to try to not label food as good or bad when I’m grocery shopping from now on. I hope it’ll help me balance my own diet. @beh353#beh353
With Thanksgiving approaching, and lots of food being in the midst of preparation, make sure to cook safely! It may take a few extra steps but no one wants to go home feeling sick the next day @beh353#beh353
This week we discussed the 4 steps to #FoodSafety for a safe & enjoyable Thanksgiving: Clean💦, Separate↔, Cook🌡 & Chill❄. Don’t let foodborne illness be a guest at your dinner table! More tips: https://t.co/1Evyq8bUHo
@SamMontalto2 @beh353 It’s so cute! I like that it can be used as an interactive learning experience for children as well! Getting them involved in their nutrition will solidify long term healthy eating habits @beh353#beh353
Not only does this article reference numerous dietary and pediatric care professionals, but it also links to sources like MyPlate for further assistance! It’s clear in what you should and shouldn’t do as a role model for children @beh353#beh353 https://t.co/2VbwW9eQAN
I liked this article, it’s always important to think about how you store your ingredients! Don’t expose dry ingredients to any water and keep an eye out for any signs of mold or decay on your produce! @beh353#beh353
It’s soup and stew season! Start your slow cooker right after prepping ingredients because bacteria can grow quickly in foods that reach room temperature before cooking. Learn more: https://t.co/DItO9EYi3Z
@taline261@beh353 I agree, that is incredibly dangerous and not something anyone should try. I just can’t believe that her body was basically breaking and her doctor said to keep doing what she was doing. @beh353#beh353
I couldn’t believe that some physicians see fat shaming as a good source of motivation. For anyone working on their weight management it’s important for them to have someone trustworthy to confide in, not a “professional” who belittles them. @beh353#beh353
I liked this article! It gave me something new to try to make and also dispels the stigma that MSG is one of the most terrible things to add in your cooking. Of course it’s not good to use too much, but my friends in high school constantly told me off for using it @beh353#beh353
@esen0320@beh353 This is very true, and I realized after your post that it’s sometimes the effect of hormonal imbalances can also act with medications that people take! My inhaler has corticosteroids in it which can lead to a chubbier “moon face” if used regularly @beh353#beh353
This week I read that those who consume diet soft drinks have a higher avg BMI than those who drink regular soda. I know aspartame in diet soda is bad but it’s interesting that it did the opposite it’s advertised to do @beh353#beh353
@Ashjez29@beh353 I agree, even though I work part-time along with school I have a little money to spare for the more expensive produce section. But then I get wrapped into work and school so I don’t actually have time to cook them. @beh353#beh353
As mentioned in lecture this week, added sugars make up a DECENT part of our diets. Even if you order a small or medium, there is still so much sugar in these drinks. But I don’t deny that they’re tasty, so I advise limiting how often you order these @beh353#beh353
There are some drinks out there that may as well be cups full of candy. If you're a #NYC resident you can support the #SweetTruth Act, which would require warning icons next to items on the menu that exceed an entire day's worth of added sugars: https://t.co/N0xIRGOYae
Although I have a lot of random ideas for new recipes and I enjoy cooking, I lack the actual knowledge and skills needed to make balanced meals. I’ve tried to incorporate a variety of nutrients in the dishes I already know how to make, but it’s difficult. @beh353#beh353
Fermented foods are so tasty, and it’s fun to compare the different vegetables that are fermented in different countries. You can also get vitamin B12, which helps with red blood cell formation and even nerve functioning. @beh353#beh353
@ShreyaDholakia2@beh353 Yeah, I agree. My mom always told me to take tons of multivitamins but I feel like she forgets that we also get these from our normal diet… do you think major education about and changes to diet can reduce the need for these supplements? @beh353#beh353
This is a calcium supplement my mom told me to start taking when I was 15. I today realize that it not only has 50% DV of calcium but also 63% DV of vitamin D, which helps to help the body absorb calcium. @beh353#beh353
Looking forward to seeing the results of this study. As a kid, my family always loved seafood but I wondered if we ate it a bit too much… hopefully when this is complete I’ll get some insight on tasty and also healthily balanced seafood options @beh353#beh353
Good on the FDA for launching this study. We hope it will be completed within 18 months or so, as children will continue to be exposed to potentially harmful seafood and/or under-consume nutritionally beneficial seafood in the interim. https://t.co/RxcOlWCaAK
