Children should not have to choose between being well and receiving a good education. When students are sick — whether from acute illness, Long COVID, or other chronic conditions — rigid attendance policies can undermine both their health and their ability to learn.
Flexible approaches like remote participation, hybrid learning, and asynchronous work help students stay engaged without worsening illness or increasing the risk of spreading disease. When thoughtfully implemented, these tools support continuity, inclusion, and better outcomes for students and their communities.

If you're aware that Covid:
😪 hasn't gone anywhere
⬆️ causes cumulative health consequences
🧠 accelerates aging and disease
📉 damages the immune system
😷 and you choose to wear a respirator in public spaces to protect yourself and others...
We should be friends. 😊
Find an effective respirator that fits you with the new free MaskqFit iOS app! 😀
Finding a respirator-grade mask that fits and seals well on your face is the main key to getting good protection.
The MasqFit app is an open source project that uses crowd sourced fit test data and the iPhone's camera to give evidence-based suggestions of which masks are likely to give you a good fit.
MaskqFit can make it easier and cheaper to find a respirator that suits you and gives you good protection.
Funded by Kanro and made with a lot of hard work by @eddericu and volunteer fit testers, this app does something that NIOSH was working with its own project before the agency's staff and funding were slashed, making NIOSH unable to continue its plan to make respiratory protection more accessible.
Read the linked thread for all the details, including how you can help the project.
interesting study on air purifiers in classrooms. They only used enough air purifier capacity to reduce pm pollution by 32% and yet still got 12.5%reduction in sick days (1.2 days per student per year). They used random consumer hepas, so we can do much better. Return on investment in money alone was 9 to 1. According to my crude data/spreadsheet, my BQF based CR box gets 29 times the cubic meters of clean air per dollar than a typical consumer type hepa. So we are up to 261:1 return on investment ratio. What investment is better than that??? Perhaps another public health style thing. We can do both :). Let's do all of the public health things :D.

Up until my 4th decade on this planet, I assumed anyone who caught polio got paralyzed. But less than 1% did. & people worked to prevent polio to stop that 1% from getting paralyzed. Why aren’t we trying to stop the 10% (a conservative estimate) from getting long covid?
Aren't you tired of being sick and tired?
COVID-19 isn't just another cold. It can cause lasting harm even without symptoms. We have the power to break this cycle. Wearing a high-quality mask in public drastically reduces infections, protecting you and your community.
Together, we can stop the spread. Mask up, stay safe, and reclaim your health.

I’ll never understand why we’ve accepted hosptial acquired covid as inevitable.
Why people resigned to the fact that if they go in for care, they will likely catch covid.
It doesn’t have to be inevitable. We shouldn’t be complacent about a 10% mortality rate. We can do more.
New study in Nature finds no such thing as natural immunity to covid after the arrival of omicron. Pre-omicron, infection provided 80% protection against re-infection one year later. This falls to under 5% at one year with omicron
