Today, @actionaidrwanda convened the Project Steering Committee Meeting for the @EU-funded “Improving Food Security and Boosting Farm Income for Women Smallholder Farmers in Rwanda (IFS: Kungahara Project)” in Kigali.
Implemented across all 30 districts since 2023, the project empowered young people to actively engage in planning, budgeting, and accountability processes at both district and national levels, advancing inclusive governance, transparency, and citizen participation in Rwanda.
Today, @actionaidrwanda , in partnership with @CladhoRwa , held the closure event for the “Strengthening Youth-Led Organizations to Advocate for Enhanced Budget Accountability in Rwanda” project, funded by the European Union. @ActionAid
The event brought together representatives from @RwandaFinance , @RwandaLocalGov , the National Youth Council (NYC), youth-led organizations, and other stakeholders.
@actionaidrwanda and @CladhoRwa , under the EU-supported project, successfully convened a consultative meeting with the Governance and Decentralization Sector Working Group technical team on youth engagement in governance and planning.
To identify gaps and agree on practical actions to strengthen inclusive youth participation in public finance management and budget processes at both national and district levels.
As we enter Year 3 of the project, @actionaidrwanda , @ActionaidTz , and @ActionAidDRC are reflecting on achievements, lessons learned, and priorities to further strengthen climate resilience, food security, and the empowerment of women and youth across the region.

Today, 25th May 2026, we kicked off the Annual Review and Planning Meeting for the Resilient Communities and Social Justice Movements in the Great Lakes Region project in Dar es Salaam, bringing together @actionaidrwanda, @ActionaidTz, and @ActionAidDRC .
Young people must be at the center of decision-making processes that shape their future. On 22 May 2026,in @Nyamasheke, youth, youth representatives, and other stakeholders gathered for a consultative meeting to discuss the budget planning process & identify key youth priorities.
The initiative aims to empower young people to engage meaningfully in governance and public finance processes. Young people are not just beneficiaries of development, they are key partners in shaping it.
The evaluation highlighted significant achievements in strengthening youth participation in Public Finance Management processes, enhancing the capacities of youth-led organizations, and promoting constructive engagement between young people and public institutions.
On 15th May 2026, @actionaidrwanda, in partnership with @CladhoRwa, organized a Stakeholders’ Validation Workshop on the Endline Evaluation of the project: “Strengthening Youth-Led Organizations to Advocate for Enhanced Budget Accountability in Rwanda.”
The workshop brought together representatives from government institutions, civil society organizations, youth-led organizations and project implementing partners to review and validate the evaluation findings, lessons learned, and recommendations from the project.
