Seven new emojis will be available on your phone in 2025, so why the leafless tree? @BaylorComm's Dr. Scott Varda @actualsjv weighs in on how emojis reflect people’s need to communicate on issues, including the environment, via @business.
The thing about Christ’s call to love your neighbor is that you don’t get to choose who your neighbor is.
It seems like a lot of resistance to immigration is about wanting to choose our neighbors.
Since it's 📅, AKA World Emoji Day, @BaylorComm rhetorician Scott Varda - whose favorite emojis are❤️🤣🙄- dives into the how & why we use emojis to emphasize ideas or convey emotions when words alone often cannot. https://t.co/xSZmEfZj1N
On the one hand, the Emperor has committed many demonstrable crimes and stated repeatedly and publicly that he plans to commit more, but on the OTHER hand, Yoda sounds funny.
@Deegpeog@sjpanda7@sam_d_1995@whstancil This claim always bothers me so it’s worth debunking, Obama had a supermajority for only 72 working Senate days https://t.co/0DRYboZKZo
A MeidasTouch Networker supporter named Laura asked I share the following message about the woman’s situation featured in President Biden’s new ad: “I miscarried and want to explain a bit more to help some people understand Amanda's situation. After a miscarriage, you have to have a procedure called a D&C, which makes sure there's no leftover placenta or piece of embryo inside the mother. A D&C is categorized as an abortion. Without it, any remnant of the miscarriage can cause an infection and be deadly. When this happens, it frequently turns into sepsis and the mother can die.
Procedures called abortions don't always end pregnancies. Sometimes they prevent a woman from infection and a possible loss of her life after she has lost her pregnancy.
Nearly all women miscarry at some point, some multiple times. Anti-abortion laws are preventing women who miscarry from getting life saving care through a treatment needed whether you're Democrat or Republican, pro choice or antichoice.” We discussed in today’s episode. https://t.co/FZRXRilB9F
"Christian nationalists" claim to speak for all Christians, but hidden inside is a deep historical hatred of many forces of Christianity, perhaps especially Catholicism. If you care about your religious freedom, speak up now before it's too late. A THREAD.
@DLib24 Go through your IRB just in case. They will almost certainly tell you this project is exempt, but then you’ll also be IRB certified (if ur not already), which is a line for CV. The whole process will take u a few hours max, and you’ll likely get a quick response from ur IRB
I’m not proposing a solution, but it really feels like a failure of the American political system when our leaders die in office.
Lewis, Hastings, Young, Feinstein, Scalia, Ginsburg…
Is retirement really that awful?
misinfo elsewhere even if the the argument itself (“anyone can read the ‘plain text’ of the Bible”) isn’t relevant in a situation. But also, as the QTs display, the tweet IS also wrong about the “plain text” part. Do you read ancient Greek? Aramaic? No? Then lol. 2/2
This is a great example of a tweet that propels mis, dis, and mal-information across digital networks. The notion that “PhDs” should be understood as opposed to “common sense,” and collectively constitute “academic grift” works to undermine faith in expertise. The tweet helps 1/2
Don't let PhDs convince you that you cannot, armed w/ basic common sense & ability to read, understand the Bible. Yes some things require more intensive study, but most of the Bible is perfectly clear. Claiming verses don't actually mean what they plainly say is academic grift.
