Today, together with the District Health Committee team designated for this assignment by the District Health Officer of Kasese district, we concluded on developing the first draft of guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures for Health Workers when handling Survivors and Victims of Torture. Today, we celebrate #HumanRightsDay, and participate in the National Stakeholder Dialogue hosted by the @UHRC_UGANDA, bringing actors together to reaffirm the importance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights! 🌟
The ACTV Community Support Network in Kasese is the backbone of our work, featuring 100 dedicated members including Community Facilitators, Health Workers, Peer Support Workers, Community Counsellors and Rapid response network.
Their crucial role is providing holistic assistance to survivors of Torture and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), primarily across the Maliba and Bwesumbu sub-counties.
Today, our Mental Health team successfully conducted a specialized "Care for Caregivers" session for these frontline heroes from Maliba and Bwesumbu. To help them manage vicarious trauma and maintain their well-being by rejuvenating their minds, bodies, feelings, and thoughts.
