I appreciated meeting with Surdex to discuss their cutting-edge geospatial tech and aerial surveying expertise that are vital for everything from disaster response to infrastructure planning here in Missouri. Their aerial imaging support after May's tornado was critical for disaster response in the immediate aftermath.

@MavrickFitz@mouthofmorrison My experience is to scale (ie buy land) you are leveraging your existing land to obtain a loan for new land, because you don’t have the means to pay for it outright. That same land is being leveraged to pay for equipment to scale as well.
@MavrickFitz@mouthofmorrison I would like to see a better definition of median farmer - how many acres being farmed, for example. Unless you are doing it at scale, you are living far below that take home pay number. I think it would be better to look at the scale of farms in correlation to that metric.
@mouthofmorrison Speaking for my 74 year old father, who got a Bachelors degree and came back to run our farm, I would agree 💯. Gritty would be another adjective to describe them.
@MavrickFitz@mouthofmorrison Based on living in the rural Midwest, and growing up on a small family owned farm (and not pursuing being the 4th generation to continue it on), I would say we were far from a median-farmer…more than happy to provide real-world perspective on those statistics.
