Congratulations to all fellow Ethiopians on the inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam! Proud to be part of this groundbreaking milestone. We remember the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi for his vision and courage to start the project, and thank Prime Minister Abiy for completing it.
#In_Pictures: Ashenda came to a close on Sunday after three days of festivities that began on Friday, carrying Tigray through a weekend of joy, faith, and cultural pride. In Mekelle, girls and young women brought the celebration to life with vibrant attire, elaborate hairstyles, and unceasing songs, leaving behind enduring images of resilience while hopes for lasting peace remain unsteady.
On the celebration of Ashenda, it would be a mistake to think Tigrayan women are mere decorations of a festival. They are its heartbeat, its quiet fire, the voices that turn joy into defiance and defiance into joy. 1/6
Happy #Ashenda to the indefatigable and stubborn joy of #Tigrayan women.
You are the pulse that keeps Tigray alive; the heartbeat who endure, resist, and love louder than any attempt to silence you.
Salute for pulling this year’s beautiful celebrations together!
#InPicture: Hundreds of people demonstrated today in Mekelle to demand the return home of people displaced by the two-year war on Tigray and the withdrawal of outside forces that continue to occupy 40% of Tigray despite the Pretoria agreement.
#In_Pictures: #Axum_Massacre 4th year commemoration
Residents of #Axum city in the #Tigray region gathered on Thursday for a somber remembrance of the Axum Massacre, four years after the tragic events in late November 2020. Families and survivors gather to honor the memory of hundreds of civilians who were executed by #Eritrean forces during the first month of the two-years brutal war in Tigray regional state.
Human Rights Watch (HRW), Amnesty International (AI) and the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC), among others, have all released reports on the massacre, shedding light on the level of atrocities committed in three successive days. The investigations revealed that Eritrean forces systematically killed hundreds of civilians in the city of Axum. The reports also documented widespread human rights abuses, including door-to-door executions in a deliberate targeting of unarmed residents.
Through moments of grief, prayer, and silent resilience held on Thursday, survivors and residents of the city called for justice, and expressed their hope for peace and healing.

“We need justice, but it’s been 4 years and nothing has happened. They have just forgotten about us,” said a woman whose husband died in the #Axum massacre. Brilliant reporting by @FredHarter from 2 of Tigray's worst massacre sites where wounds cannot heal https://t.co/SFNrKmCkGX
Petros, imposter Archdiocese, denied the atrocities that were committed in Axum Tsion. He preached in churches dehumanizing Tigrayans & used every opportunity to silence the Patriarch who is also Tigrayan. Ethiopian Orthodox supported the genocide

Today I met had discussions with US SEHOA @MikeHammerUSA on issues pertaining to the implementation of the COHA, challenges standing in the way and possible ways forward. Ambassador Hammer underscored the US Government’s commitment to supporting the Interim Administration in its endeavors to carry out its mandate as speedily as possible. I reiterated that the US and its partners must exert coordinated pressure towards the full implementation of the agreement & help end the suffering of hundreds of thousands of IDPs as well as Tigrayan refugees in Sudan. I also emphasized that the status quo is no longer tenable & failure to fully implement the agreement would have far-reaching consequences to peace & stability in the region.
