@gonglei89 What are your thoughts on Bitcoin reaching $100k this week, and as a technology? Do you think it will have an increasing geopolitical affect?
@ayham2222@amasad Reasonable take I think. Investing a significant percentage of GDP on what could end up being a dead end might be premature. Especially if we might actually be creating something we aren't ready for yet. Seems like a risky bet. Could also be risky to not invest. Sophie's choice
@ayham2222@amasad Hard to say until we see how AGI develops/behaves/can be used. Anything from providing an insurmountable competitive advantage in science/manufacturing, to taking complete control of all the network and computer systems in the world. Or maybe it will be benign. We don't know yet.
@jonathanstray@amasad The authoritarian country that has banned Bitcoin 100 times and yet still has some of highest Bitcoin hash rate and usage in the world? Nice control
@0xPicasso@mud2monarch Arguing #bitcoin won't be useful for money laundering or terrorist financing underestimates bitcoin's power and potential. The internet empowers criminals and combustion technology empowers warmongers. Good tech is good tech regardless of who is using it. Bitcoin is great tech.
@cobie@nic_carter Blacklist tokens, connect transactions to identies, freeze accounts, issue arrests, raid erc20 coins headquarters and seize operations. Don't know the tactics govs and institutions will adopt as this all gains traction, but it does seem more important than ever to pursue privacy
