Just your average guy interested in all things IT, bell ringing, beer, music and books. All round geek! Did I mention the beer? Mastodon: @[email protected]
Hey @RhythmDrGame does the version of this game available from the Microsoft store have the accessibility narration for blind users? I've purchased from the Windows store but can't get narration working. Thanks.
@blindandb0ujee@saj_anderson A friend of mine has been turned away from a couple of charities as there is no money to help him get the software that he needs to use accessible to screen readers. He’s ended up volunteering for a couple of blind organisations which is the same situation as if he was being paid
I'm really shocked about this. I really enjoyed ringing at Pride events, prefering not to go to the main event myself as I am blind and find dealing with large crowds difficult.
So @PrideInLondon has asked for a stop to the tradition (since 1991) of LGBTQ+ bellringers supporting them & ringing for Pride this year at St Martin in the Fields. Disappointing for those who find this a way to meet other LGBTQ+ ringers. @Gay_London_Life#PrideBansBells
Anyone on Plusnet changing from VDSL to FTTP know if the existing Hub 2 router will be kept? Asking for my parents so we know if I need to arrange to help them setting up correct wireless details.
Hey @TfL Not sure what was going on with the east-bound central line today around 20:45, the driver had to slowly move the train forward to get all doors into the platform. As totally blind person someone had to stop me from getting off the rear door at Leyton which wasn't safe!
@FLCompassion@AmarLatif_ Where did you go this time? I’m going to Cambodia next week, can’t wait. Will be interesting to see how Traveleyes has changed since Covid.
To me this is simplifying the issues that people have with their disability, potentially causing people to not ask questions to understand someone's full requirements.
Anyone else on here got a Nimbus access card? Seems like more places are requiring these now to show proof of disability. I'm unimpressed with the form, they only add icons to the card to show a person needs the accommodations based on medical evidence of that disability.
As someone with a physical disability, I'm wondering if we should be worried about representation in the workplace by people identifying as having a neuro-diverse disability? for example companies may use these people as part of their disabled quotas. Is this a valid concern?
Another bike collision, this time on the road outside St Magnus which has several lanes of traffic and a bike lane. Even though I waited a good 5 seconds after the lights changed in my favour, I hit a bike as I walked across the road and he was knocked off. Luckily I had
@MrsRieB@TfL I was only thinking today what would happen if a wheelchair user boarded the train themselves on a level platform but then couldn’t get help at the other end for whatever reason. Your thread shows the issue in really good detail.
@ohiohag Especially when those apps require you to hand control over to the corporate running the app through in tune or other mobile device management system.
@saj_anderson Last time I asked for something like this, I was told curtains were the only option. I’ve got some blackout blinds now, but they do leak a small amount of light. It doesn’t bother me at the moment.
