@BlissfulTango@robertgraham For this to prove your point, you need to know the status of this loan today though. Is this loan still sitting at 9 billion usd today, or was part of it paid off by selling stock and paying taxes?
@HDaniels1959@AlecStapp All of the growth in this graph for 2025 for China has been accomplished with solar and wind. Probably this year will have electricity growth combined with drop in fossil
@AdamantxYves I recently checked obesity stats to see if the image we get from US is just media bias, but when since it's 40% in US vs 20% in Europe there must be some truth in this
@SebAaltonen Shouldn't all this captial inflow still allow for the performance at budget prices to be improving as well? Why does the state of the art performance matter as long as what you get for the same money still improves?
@nukeadvocate@gimmick59235769@JavierBlas In the case of holidays it might be beneficial for the local economy if not half of the holiday budget is sent to oil states but spent locally instead
@asymmetricinfo In Belgium there used to be some subsidies for AC that only work for heating. The motivation was probably to replace fossil fuel with electricity, without increasing electricity use in summer. Recently I think more people get full AC since they have spare solar in summer anyway
@TigsTown Why are people so stuck in doing things at a specific number? Having less time zones or time changes is imo much more valuable then saying everyone has to go to work/school at 9am. You can simply change that some places start school at 7am and others at 10am
@BladeDoc@MorlockP In that case it's probably one of the cases where you could use AI to verify. Feed it the citation and ask it specific questions to verify what the citation says
@Gamut_Music @hecubian_devil I think with LLM's it's similar. The inner layers encode the general idea, and that probably remains relatively stable as the later layers then so the work of extracting this idea into a sentence word by word.
@Gamut_Music @hecubian_devil I'm someone with an internal monologue (if I understand correctly that's not everyone) so when I have an idea, I can have the feeling of knowing the idea, but still need to pass it through this monologue word by word to actually 'think' it.
@dangainor@slitsmoocher@ExistentialEnso@Noahpinion But if that's the only reason for preferring meat then you're saying killing living animals is the main reason you like meat. I think for most taste, texture, nutritional values are key, and killing animals is a negative side requirement to achieve that currently
@202accepted None of the splits I've ever seen have external air intake. They have small tubes for the compression gasses and one small tube to take the condensation water out. But the air intake is at the top, taking the warm air from the top of the room, cooling it and blowing it back in
