Yahya Ben Youssef, z"l, at nearly 100 years old, was one of the last six Jews still living in Yemen until he passed away last Thursday.

His Muslim neighbors helped bury him, as there are no enough Jews remaining in Yemen to carry out the funeral tradition.

Ben Youssef remained in Yemen despite harassment from the Houthis, whose rise to power during Yemen's civil war has led to more harassment and violence against the several dozen Jews who chose to remain in the country.

Yemeni Jews were oppressed as "dhimmis" or second class citizens for most of their over-2,000 years of history. In the 12th century, there were attempts to forcibly convert them, and in the 1600s, they were banished from Yemen's cities. The vast majority of Yemeni Jews made aliyah in 1949-50.

The Facebook page for the remaining community said that the funeral "was an act of unity and respect from the local Muslim community, who buried one of the six remaining Jews in the country."

Sudan embodies all of these causes, yet it receives zero attention, allowing Muslim Brotherhood terrorists leading the army to kill people daily. Do you think the International Criminal Court will intervene, or are they too busy with Israel and Jews alone?

One of the saddest and scariest parts of what is happening right now on college campuses is that these students who are being arrested for their violent antisemitism and threats against Jewish lives think they are completely in the right. In fact, I’m sure they equate themselves with protestors arrested in the age of MLK and the civil rights movement.

The truth is that they are spitting in his face, and in the face of all social justice movements. They are uneducated, unwilling to be educated, and do not care about Palestinians outside of following a trend to make themselves feel better about their own privilege.

Their arrogance and ignorance and complete contempt for Jewish life is a deadly combination and a tale as old as time that we Jews bear the scars of.
