The Science Behind Miswak 🌿
Have you ever wondered why people have been using miswak sticks for centuries, and what makes this simple natural twig so fascinating even today?
Modern research has shown that miswak contains natural compounds with antibacterial properties that help promote oral hygiene, reduce plaque buildup, and support healthy gums.
More than 1,400 years ago, Islam encouraged the use of miswak as part of cleanliness and personal hygiene. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ frequently used it and highly recommended it, saying:
> “Were it not that I might overburden my followers, I would have ordered them to use the miswak before every prayer.”
A beautiful example of how a Prophetic Sunnah continues to be appreciated for its benefits today.
The trip of President @WilliamsRuto to Northern Kenya, with its unveiling of significant infrastructure and development projects, the commitment for further investment to foster parity with the rest of Kenya, and the empathy, acknowledgment and Presidential apology for past injustices was historic.
The trip will not only foster development, but will create healing that will positively impact not only Northern Kenya, but also with brotherly communities across the border in Somalia and Ethiopia.
But the most impactful announcement for the long term future of the youth, and one which, in my opinion, did not receive significant coverage, is the decision to incorporate Quranic schools- so called madrassas- into the formal education system of Kenya.
This move will hopefully bring resources, training, certification and oversight for the only education that many Muslim children receive.
It will help with the fight against radicalization and potential terrorism, by ensuring, through certification and oversight, that radicalized teachers do not infect young minds.
And it will facilitate the seamless graduation of students from Quranic schools into primary classes, specially for girls and children from poor households, increasing formal education significantly.
A revolutionary decision that should be adopted by both Muslim majority and minority countries! 👍🏽👏👏🙏🏾

A proud moment.
God bless our country.
Thank you His Excellency @WilliamsRuto for making Northern Kenya shine!
Seeing our children perform was just an emotional moment.
During Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir, President William Ruto announced that the new Wajir Stadium will be renamed Ahmed Khalif Stadium, honouring the late Labour minister Ahmed Khalif Mohamed, who died in a 2003 plane crash.
The move follows a proposal by Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, who praised Khalif’s legacy as a political leader, human rights advocate, and religious figure who served as Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims.
This is not Nyayo National Stadium or Uhuru Park but Wajir Stadium. North Eastern Kenya finally getting a slice of the national cake. This is what intentional leadership looks.
Wajir surprised me.
In most counties, the gift you receive is a chicken, a goat, or a beer. Whether you drink or not, In Wajir, the gift is a book.
I was gifted 7 books by local authors. Tonight I opened one, Echoes of Struggle by university student Mohammed Abdi.
Big good mistake.
It is almost 3a.m. and I cannot put it down.
Beautiful storytelling. Rich culture. Humour. Love. Heartbreak. Wajir brought to life through words.
Page 93, I cannot wait to wake and finish the compelling story. I have just ordered several more copies of the book from him

One of the passengers on Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 sent a video to his wife just minutes before the crash.
In the video, passengers are heard praying and some oxygen masks are already down.
