Why don't marketing agencies charge like hedge funds?
Hedge funds:
- 1.5% flat management fee on AUM
- 15% performance fee on gains
Agencies:
- same structure on your ad spend
- 15% of incremental revenue/profit from ROAS
The metrics are almost identical, both exist to appreciate assets under management!

Why not align incentives the same way?
Pure performance skin-in-the-game force agencies to think like PMs instead of vendors.
Obviously it falls apart for O2O, hybrid, or traditional retail due to attribution.
But the biggest beneficiary should be pure eCommerce / DTC brands: Clean attribution, real-time ROAS, direct revenue lift. Agencies compete to grow your business, a virtuous cycle where better creative + media = bigger carry for them AND you.
