@jefielding This was really common in the 90’s. It fell out of favor and doesn’t happen nearly as often nowadays since companies rarely do well when they lose their founders.
Boards tend to prefer other forms of control like lowering options and equity if the CEO doesn’t make the target.

@turo So my Turo vehicle was stolen. I called support to cancel the next reservation as an extenuating circumstance. Apparently stolen vehicles are not listed as extenuating circumstances and I was somehow responsible as the host for cancelling. That is nuts.
