This deserves a lot more attention than the sale of Warhol / Marilyn Monroe print earlier this month. Always regarded the Uhlenhaut as the most valuable car in the world (about 10yrs ago I thought it would be a $100m car) but I never thought Mercedes would sell one!

The greatest. I’ll never forget watching him at Taunton as a child. The game’s best player and character during my lifetime. Made the hardest skill in cricket look easy. Intimidating & inspiring on the pitch, and a great pundit off it. A true legend and icon. Terrible news.

As a pundit, he was also top notch. Good insight & banter. I always enjoyed his test match masterclasses, where he’d help young county players with their technique. Leg spin is a super-tricky skill that he made easy & you could see his enthusiasm with the up-and-coming players.
