Steam Deck + HDMI Dock is about 10% less expensive than the steam machine.

It plays the same broad category of games (not too new, not too high settings).

A portable console AND plugable for living room play.

It isn't about Xbox/PS 5... It is worse than Valve's own console.

The price is too high for what it is -- it's a sub-par gaming machine at a price too high to justify that.

A steam deck with an HDMI dock targets the same crowd (gamers that don't care about performance) but cheaper and more flexible.

To be clear -- I include the steam deck in that. A steam deck with the dock is cheaper and will play most of the same games.
