It had shown me the right things to value in life and how special family and friends are. We are all human, we all need someone to help and we all need to help. So, what good did we do in the world today? What can we do tomorrow to do even better?

Being a CNA in a nursing home is, in my eyes, one of the most emotionally, physically, and mentally draining jobs. But it also one of the best and most rewarding jobs. Seeing people deteriorate mentally and physically until they are just a shell of what they were is exhausting.

Today a resident asked me, “do any good today?” It made me stop and think. A happy life isn’t one where we only care for ourselves, but rather for others. While being a CNA is exhausting, it has shown me how to care compassionately for others and to live a happier life.
