“Cool streets” using light pavement is a thing. LA has been painting streets white to cool them. Why not here? Adding more shade with more street trees is also critical for reducing heat *and* flooding.

Note for others that you were crossing Georgia Ave a block from the Forest Glen Metro. The road is a major hwy with hwy lane widths and hwy speeds. The new speed limit (30 mph) is not being enforced. Sidewalk 🚲 is also seen along here daily.

Standard on Georgia Ave north of downtown Silver Spring. PEPCO and SHA treat sidewalks as storage for their poles. Occasionally WSSC joins in. Pedestrians? ADA requirements? Meh…
