U.S. citizens are REQUIRED to enter and depart the United States on a U.S. passport. This requirement applies equally to U.S. citizens, including children, who are dual nationals. Dual national U.S. citizens may NOT use their foreign passport to apply for an electronic travel authorization (ESTA). The Department of Homeland Security routinely denies or cancels ESTAs for dual national U.S. citizens. If you are a U.S. citizen or national and live abroad and plan to travel to the United States, make sure you do so with a valid U.S. passport. If your U.S. passport is expired or expires soon, renew before your trip! Remember many countries require passports have six months validity.

#Breaking: At the instigation of elements sympathetic to a certain candidate of particular concern, persons suspected to be agents of @OfficialDSSNG have reportedly abducted the MD of the Service Provider for the @NigBarAssoc in #NBADecides2026 at the MMIA airport in Lagos on his way to Abuja. They also reportedly confiscated his laptop & phones & presently have him in their custody.

This is even more impressive because the same @OfficialDSSNG had reportedly confirmed in writing that they were going to be present to observe the mechanics off voting & ballot tabulation in #NBADecides2026. It is difficult to see how they can both disable ballot administration & observe balloting all at the same time.

The design, clearly, is to frustrate #NBADecides2026 & bring about #ManuMilitari what the courts have told them they cannot do.

The same people using @OfficialAPCNg controlled methods & institutions are busy claiming other candidates are fronts for the #APC. Someone pls make it make sense.

Professor Omolaye Alaba-Ajileye served with my integrity & intellect on the High Court of Kogi State, taking on some of the most difficult cases in the system & retaining balance while he did so. As reprisal for his judicial courage, he was denied the preferments that were his due.

Since retirement from the Bench in 2023, he has taught at the National Open University of Nigeria as a Professor. His expertise is in the arcane field of electronic evidence.

Tomorrow, at the Conference Centre of @noununiversity in Abuja, Prof Omolaye Alaba-Ajileye will be launching his path-breaking books on Electronic Evidence in #Nigeria.

On this International Workers’ Day, @AfAafrica (AfA) raises its voice for a truth that can no longer be side-lined: work must not come at the cost of our mental health, dignity, or sense of safety.

Under this year’s call to action “Let’s ensure a healthy psychosocial working environment” we spotlight the lived realities of countless workers, especially women, who navigate not only economic pressures but also toxic workplaces, harassment, burnout, and invisible emotional strain.

For many Nigerian women, the workplace extends beyond offices and factories into homes, markets, and informal spaces, where protections are weakest, and the toll on mental and emotional well-being is often ignored. A healthy workplace is not just about physical safety; it is about respect, inclusion, fair treatment, and the freedom to exist and thrive without fear, stress, or discrimination.

At AfA, we believe psychosocial wellbeing is a workers’ right, not a privilege. This means:

👉 Work environments free from harassment, intimidation, and gender-based violence
👉 Systems that recognize and address burnout, stress, and emotional labour
👉 Policies that centre dignity, fairness, and mental health support
👉 A culture where speaking up is safe, and being heard is guaranteed

We call on governments, employers, and institutions to move beyond rhetoric and take deliberate action to build workplaces that protect both the body and the mind.

To every worker showing up, pushing through, and demanding better, you deserve more than survival. You deserve wellbeing, respect, and justice.

I have managed to locate the 2011 report of the @njcNig Committee that investigated the allegations against then CJN Aloysius Katsina Alu & then PCA, Isa Ayo Salami. It runs into 59 pages. Former President of the @CourtOfAppealNG, Umaru Abdullahi, chaired the Committee.

The disclosures & claims in the report are mouth-watering. But it is the absence of either indignation or credible rebuttal of the claims that is even more revealing.

For an illustration, take the sequence of allegations concerning the #CallLogs of exchanges between Isa Ayo Salami & the lawyers of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN. Here are the relevant parts of the report.

2026 National Police Day Celebrations!

To mark the 2026 National Police Day, @AfAafrica (AfA) on 31st March 2026 joined the Imo State Police Command, civil society groups, and other stakeholders in a powerful walkathon through the streets of Owerri, championing peaceful elections and civic responsibility, and reinforcing the power of collaboration in building safer and stronger communities.

This initiative reflects the theme of the 2026 National Police Day: “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” It aimed to raise awareness and encourage citizens to support the Police and other security agencies in ensuring a safe and secure environment for free, fair, and credible elections.

Celebrating Women, Empowering Change!

On 9 March 2026, in commemoration of 2026 International Women’s Day, @AlliancesforAfrica (AfA), together with our community-based partners, Honourbirth Foundation, conducted a powerful sensitisation program for women in Obinze, Owerri West LGA, Imo State.

The event brought together passionate female teachers from four schools and dedicated members of community women’s groups, all united under the theme #GiveToGain.

The session focused on empowering women with knowledge of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, a crucial legal framework designed to protect women and girls from violence and harmful practices. Key areas explored included FGM, rape, sexual exploitation, disinheritance, spousal abuse, forceful ejection from home, and harmful widowhood practices.

The discussions were lively and deeply interactive, revealing that Type IV Female Genital Mutilation is still practiced in the community, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and action. Many participants also shared that their understanding of the VAPP Law and their legal rights was limited, reinforcing why continued sensitisation is so vital.

The energy in the room was inspiring. Participants actively engaged, asked questions, and left with practical knowledge to protect themselves and advocate for others. One secondary school principal and community women’s leader even extended an invitation for AfA to join their August meeting, a promising step toward ongoing collaboration.

This 2026 International Women’s Day, we celebrated more than women, we celebrated awareness, empowerment, and the collective commitment to end violence and harmful practices against women and girls.

Together, we can turn knowledge into action and make our communities safer, fairer, and stronger.

On Friday, 13th March 2026, at Imo State University, Owerri, the Centre for Gender Studies, in collaboration with #AlliancesForAfrica (AfA), commemorated International Women’s Day with a press briefing and the launch of a ground-breaking baseline survey on sexual harassment in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. Conducted across twelve universities spanning Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the study responds to the urgent need for credible data to better understand the scale and persistence of gender-based violence on campuses. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to strengthening institutional frameworks, mobilizing stakeholders, and challenging harmful norms in order to foster safer, more inclusive learning environments.

As part of the day’s activities, the team paid a delegation visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uchefula Ugonna Chukwumaeze, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Martin Onu. During the press briefing, the Director of the Centre for Gender Studies, Dr. Ngozi Chuma Umeh delivered the official press statement, highlighting key findings of the survey and emphasizing the urgent need for collective action to address sexual harassment in tertiary institutions.

The university’s leadership reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the protection of human rights and the promotion of safe academic spaces, while commending AfA and the Centre for Gender Studies for their proactive role in advancing dignity, equality, and justice within the university community.

Reinforcing this commitment, the university emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on sexual harassment and abuse across all genders, supported by established accountability mechanisms, including a disciplinary committee. Plans to integrate Gender Studies into the academic curriculum further demonstrate a forward-thinking approach to promoting awareness and driving long-term cultural change.

The call for deeper collaboration with AfA underscores a collective determination to translate advocacy into sustained action.

The event also featured a sensitization and advocacy rally across the university campus, aimed at raising awareness, engaging students and staff, and amplifying the call for safer and more respectful learning environments.

This collective effort not only strengthened partnerships but also reaffirmed a shared vision of building institutions where every individual can thrive free from fear, discrimination, and abuse.
