The seniors are wearing photos of their grandchildren. They were arrested for trespassing on Parliament Hill after protesting what they view as the Liberal Government’s easing of environmental protections

Ontario parents: are you being asked to donate basic necessities to your kids’ classrooms?
At my son’s school, parents have been asked to donate things like toilet paper, paper towels & Kleenex.
Is this happening at your schools? I’m curious how widespread this is.

Just a timely reminder that freedom of the press is a fundamental, constitutionally protected, feature of our democracy.
The comments expressed by the Premier above are, unfortunately, shared by those at the highest levels in the Premier’s Office — a feeling of distain that is felt almost daily.

The Science Centre’s roof has survived heavy winter snow storms and now a violent rain and hail storm. This roof continues to have more integrity than the Ford government.
A team of us are working on ways to reopen this architectural masterpiece to the public again.
Notebooks on Doug Ford's Staples portal: $2.51. Retail price: 79 cents. Exercise books teachers bought in June for $7.49: now $17. This gov't locked 80,000 teachers into one American-owned company. So much for Doug Ford’s tough talk. Cancel the deal. Let teachers buy local.
I am so grateful to the ON CON MPPs for saving disenfranchised Torontonians from the bike lanes that I built my first plugin!
It pastes the emails of all Con MPPs into a field, allowing you to CC them on every email to your local rep, no matter how small!
One of the Canadian government’s most pro-Palestine MPs has announced that cars in her home’s driveway were set on fire and completely destroyed earlier today.
and magically we don't hear about private jets and fancy hotels and Muskoka land deals and stalking Bonnie Crombie in Jamaica and the upcoming teacher strikes and all of the endless scandals
🚨@TorontoStar investigation by @ShreeParadkar into alleged discrimination at @SinaiHealth🚨
In early 2024 I made a complaint about experiencing anti-Palestinian racism in my then workplace. Sinai hired Osler to investigate my APR concerns. The investigation was conducted by an investigator from Shearer Parnega.
The process that was seemingly triggered by multiple anti-Palestinian racism complaints ultimately resulted in Sinai bringing a highest level professionalism complaint against me.
I felt I was not provided any concrete examples of anything I did wrong.
The Star article notes:
“The documents the Star reviewed contained no examples in support of the [investigation’s] findings. Sinai Health did not offer any details when asked about the specific concerns related to Algu.”
This appeared to be in stark contrast with how pro-Israeli physicians were treated. My experiences of anti-Palestinian racism resulted in me walking away from my almost 10 year job as a palliative care physician – a profession that I loved – not knowing if I would get to have a substantial palliative medicine practice again.
Almost 3 years into this genocide, and ongoing industrialized Israeli attacks on Palestinian health and life, many medical institutions encourage alignment with Zionism through silencing of their staff.
Many also maintain partnerships, research programs and investments with groups who materially contribute to the Israeli crimes of occupation, apartheid, and genocide – all while our Palestinian health worker colleagues are targeted, killed, kidnapped, and tortured just for being health workers fighting to provide life to their people.
This has been described as the “genocide enabling apparatus”.
Of course the silencing that we suffer is very minor in comparison with the crimes committed against our Palestinian colleagues and their patients, but we must talk about it with clarity. Every time we shine a light on these mechanisms, their power diminishes.
To health workers in Canada, I encourage you to speak out, take material actions, stand in solidarity with your Palestinian colleagues; and keep throwing stones into the gears of the genocide that our very own institutions are enabling. We are one global profession of healers.
Free, free Palestine – from the river to the sea.

It is hard to put into words the extreme sadness, frustration, and anger so many of us are feeling with respect to an alleged group attack on a Muslim woman in front of her 7-year-old child and others in Moncton, New Brunswick.
While trying to enjoy a car parade inside a parking lot, the family were allegedly accosted by a group that yelled obscenities at them, including phrases like “Go back to your country."
Moments after, the group then allegedly beat the Muslim women in front of her son, while her husband was some distance away. He said he found her later on with a swollen face and bloody nose, along with other sign of an alleged assault.
This is a horrifying ordeal and the authorities have been alerted. We are in touch with all parties and urge authorities to investigate all angles of this incident, including hate motivations.
Meanwhile, we urge all elected officials in Atlantic Canada and beyond to denounce the rise in Islamophobia across Canada, and to meet with community members.
We will have more to say as the situation evolves.
