Accidentally created the farmer version of the #BottleFlipChallenge. The trick is to get the perfect balance of #rootworm feeding and #hail damage. If this takes off, there are going to be sections of #corn missing in line with the pivot.
Saw my first colony of Carmine mites (red 2spot) last Thursday around the Moscow area, and am finding them regularly in very low quantities today. Also noted today was common rust, and western corn rootworm beetles. Didn’t we just reach canopy?? #nodaysoff
@AllAboardTour Not too bad for the sudden warmer temperatures at mid-day. Leaf and stripe rust can be found on occasion. Even in the earlier planted fields with a more dense canopy, it is still light.
I introduced my wife to cultural control today (🐞eggs, larvae, and adults). Apparently she is more passionate about plants than me. I’m blaming the plant we recently bought for the pea aphids, and not giving myself any credit. Excuse my dandelions and poor entomology word choice
It was nice not having to be in the rain suit all day today. Graze out triticale is looking good after the recent rains and last weeks shot of fertigation. #swks#happycows
@Cornfrmr The happiest I have ever seen one of my farmers is when I dropped off a crescent wrench with his reports. Saving his soybeans from loopers was the second. It’s the little things in life.
As rain continues to fall. I lean on Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
It is the Lords crop, He will tell us when he wants us to plant, we will take care of the rest. #plant19
@BoroughsBryanB and I have been working on a #VRT iron project. Typically we use grid results for mapping. On this field we used a combination of a yield map, early season vigor map, and knowledge of the field to get the end result. #swks#servitech#soybeans#ndvi#plant19
Not exactly what you want to see between your feet mid-stride. I guess you could say I was taking soil samples like my life depended on it. Be safe this season #plant19#swks
