Bystander next to me at beginning of Oranje Fanwalk, “why is everyone in Orange if the country’s flag is red white and blue?”
Me: “Ever heard of House of Orange? Not to be confused with the Orange Show House.”
@JulieBorowski Through the magic of Houston, I have several Kazakhstani friends. Always was fascinated about the country and others along the historic Silk Road. Fascinating history and culture. Share more!
@evan7257 That's residual from when the neighborhood immediately south, "Link Valley", had the moniker Death Valley. Closer to the loop, customers mainly from apartments just south of the loop, many low income.
@CathyReisenwitz@NickPinkston@c4ssdotorg Other than the “neoliberal” slur, i think this is a fair representation of Buchanan’s stance. He wasn’t staunchly libertarian, though, so would likely see room for correcting some market excesses.
@rumilb I ran into a tourist family today, and their 5-year-old daughter remarked, "Montrose is so delightfully walkable—quite reminiscent of our European cities. Is the remainder of Houston similarly amenable to pedestrian circulation?"
One of my biggest pet peeves is media's use of "Southwest Houston" to cover everything from near downtown to Richmond TX. Most recent example, a restaurant fire near NRG Stadium: https://t.co/W2wLhJpcub
@infosam@jen_rice_@TexasVC@RiceUniversity They acquired The Ginger Man property for that new gateway project, I don't think the Little Woodrows/Istanbul Grill property is involved.
@jen_rice_@RiceUniversity I need to catch up on the local gossip, last I heard that landlord was adamantly against selling to Rice U. But I guess everyone has their price.
