Everyone is talking how AI will take developer jobs.
But wait.
There's another profession struggling even more.
DESIGNERS.
When AI can generate a *decent* design, and you're happy with "good enough", why pay money for unique designs and go through rounds of reviews?
Of course, as a result, we have a lot of AI-slop designs that look very similar, "screaming" that it's AI-generated.
But it's only for those who understand AI.
Before that, similar templated designs were from ThemeForest and Bootstrap.
Now it's Claude Design Skills or similar.
And of course, some companies do care about their unique branding and design.
But I know at least a few web-designers who can't find a job just because.. seems like no one is hiring a designer anymore.
Amirite?
Don't judge a developer by their personal GitHub.
Empty GitHub doesn't mean they didn't do much important dev work.
It may be the opposite: they were TOO BUSY working on something IMPORTANT in some big company and couldn't share anything in public.
If you can’t explain your experience in a 30-second narrative, you’re not interview-ready.
Attention spans are short.
Storytelling is long-term leverage.
🚨 Is the AI bubble about to burst?
FOMO everywhere.
Trillions flying around.
Stakes sky high.
Don’t blink, you’ll miss history being rewritten.
Let’s rewind. Just days ago, Sam Altman, the high priest of AI, dropped the wildest truth bomb. “This could be a bubble.” That’s not a wild guess; it’s déjà vu of the dot-com crash, when the NASDAQ lost almost 80% overnight.
The world is pouring trillions into chips, data centers, and “magic AI startups.” But ask yourself: when has the gray-haired billionaire ever warned you before the party’s even started?
Right now, you hear “AI” and stocks rocket. Ten giant companies have doubled the market in 5 years, promising AI will reshape reality. We aren’t just buying software… we’re spending moon money on hype and headlines.
But what are we actually getting? Check the receipts.
It’s burning money on metal, electricity, and a bunch of invoices that make your accounting app blush.
Amazon, Meta, Google, Miand Microsoft, just four companies, spent $344 billion on AI in 2024.
OpenAI? Raised billions more and wants to spend trillions. China? Another half-trillion. The planet hit $1 trillion on hardware alone before anyone asked: Does this chatbot actually do anything?
Here’s the plot twist: data centers now eat 1.5% of all electricity. If we keep ramping like this, your chatbot will need so much power by 2030 we might run out. US grids run on old bones, barely able to cope. China? Way more juice. That’s why your grocery bill is up, partly because someone, somewhere, asked an AI for wedding vows.
A new MIT report found 95% of companies using “GenAI” got zero return. Not “meh” results. Zero. Demos look great, but throw these tools into the real world? They flop harder than IKEA furniture in a hurricane.
The few winning? They pick one simple, boring task (like paperwork), quietly make it faster—and call it a day.
Others try “AI for everything.” Result: half-baked copilots nobody wants to use. Even coding, AI’s supposed killer app, ends up building more bugs and security holes than ever. Now, companies hire “code janitors” to clean up after the AI.
And let’s talk platform stability. The landscape shifts so fast, when OpenAI dropped GPT-5? Custom GPTs broke overnight. Imagine Python deleting half its standard library one morning. There goes the ecosystem.
So why, why are companies still pouring billions in? Simple. No one wants to miss “the future.” CEO’s rebrand teams overnight, add “AI strategy” to every presentation, just to stay cool for investors. It’s all about not looking like the only dinosaur at the robot party.
But bubbles never stay up with logic. Coast VC’s say this is the biggest private tech bubble ever. You don’t need working products—just a good story.
Private markets let the myth grow. Raise billions, burn through it, as long as the next round pays more—“We’re crushing it!” Meanwhile, the public market bets all its chips on 10 giant firms.
What happens when the spending slows? Hype lifelines get unplugged. Think the dot-com bubble, but now it’s “AI” on everything.
Most will vanish. But a handful survive. The next Google, Amazon, eBay of AI? Probably “boring” companies quietly building chips and data centers while others flame out.
After the pop, this won’t be the end for AI. It’ll get quieter, smarter, and maybe, actually useful.
The hype isn’t the real product. The survivors will be the ones who know how to build what actually works, not just what sounds cool at parties.
Are you chasing the hype, or quietly building what matters?
Anyone else having sound issues with #iPhone16ProMax? 🎧 Audio fluctuates in podcasts/videos, yet Apple Genius says they can’t hear it—my friends can though! Seen others report it on support forums. @AppleSupport, any help? #Apple#iPhone16#iPhoneProblems
Okay call me a noob, but I just had a life-changing experience with PHP.
I installed Laravel, then Laravel Jetstream, and then Laravel Spark. After ~2 minutes of configuring, I have a dashboard, a fully working Stripe integration with users, teams, 2FA, and API auth.
WHAT?! 🤣
