So Supreme Court held special Sunday sitting on habeas corpus petition. What changed apart from feel-good vibes? There was unlawful detention before hearing & after hearing. Travesty is that Supreme Court will do nothing & yet collect accolades. Why set such low bar for Court?
Alarming: on the day the Supreme Court ordered the police to allow journalists to do their job, Delhi Police bundle a woman reporter into the van. This despite her and us repeatedly telling the police that she’s with the media, and showing her badge.
"Tired of going to the Supreme Court again and again, I don't feel there is any use of going to the Supreme Court, I have lost trust,"- Sr Adv Kapil Sibal.
"We go to the Court, but I don't know if we will get any relief. The people of the country feel that this Government should go. If anybody can save the Constitution in these times, it is the Supreme Court of India. But I am tired of keeping on going to the Supreme Court. I am speaking for myself. I don't think there is any use of going there. I don't have much trust in the Supreme Court of India. Whatever has to happen, will happen."
"We told the Supreme Court many times that the voters' names are being wrongly deleted and wrongly included, we argued for months. The evidence is before the public. And the appellate tribunals now say 93% of the voters were wrongly removed. So the Supreme Court must have known. But no relief was given. So I am speaking for myslef, I don't have [faith]" - @KapilSibal says.
We, the protesting lawyers, were detained by the Delhi Police near the Supreme Court premises and taken to the Yamuna Sports Complex in East Delhi.
However, Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India intervened then, and directions were issued for our immediate release.
We were thereafter released at ITO, from where we marched towards the Supreme Court. After the march concluded, some of our colleagues dispersed, while a few of us, including myself, were about to leave after having a cup of tea.
At that point, the Delhi Police, accompanied by certain senior-ranking officers, arrived at the spot once again. The police personnel began misbehaving with those present. On the instructions of the Additional CP Sanjay Bhatia, IPS, I was manhandled by certain goons wearing police uniforms. I told the Addnl CP about the directions issued by the CJI, but he paid no heed.
One of the goons grabbed me so tightly that I found it difficult to breathe. It was only after the intervention of my colleagues and friends that he loosened his grip and I could breathe again.
I was then put into a police bus once again. I contacted some of my friends, who reached out to the DCP concerned with the Supreme Court. It was only after my colleagues and friends intervened that I was finally released.
Now one can understand the times we are living in and the state of affairs in this country. Lawyers, who are supposed to protect the rights of others, are themselves being prevented from exercising their fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression, and that too when specific instructions had been issued by none other than the Chief Justice of India.
If members of the legal fraternity are subjected to such treatment for speaking the basics, one can well imagine the difficulties an ordinary citizen may face in asserting their voices.
Pathetic!
I am considering my options for formally complaining against this Additional CP before the CJI.

A Delhi without Constitution. Let me tell the Chief Justice of India and his colleagues on the Supreme Court. History will not remember the Court as guardian of the Republic, but as clerks rubber stamping injustice and constitutional betrayal sittting next to a fascist regime
It took a lawyer's movement to unseat a military dictator across the border. If this is how, senior advocates designated by the Supreme Court are treated by this government, it becomes incumbent upon all lawyers to unite against the police. Jai Hind.
Shameful experience with @Apollo24x7
Misled into renewing Circle membership with false promises of a free test.
