AHRC New York City is a Chapter of The Arc New York, advocating for people with intellectual & developmental disabilities to lead full & equitable lives.
Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity and opportunity for all. At @AHRCNYC Middle/High School, we believe every student deserves to be heard, valued, and empowered.
The Senator’s support for our programs means so much to us and our families as we continue to advocate for a 4% targeted inflationary increase with New York State budget negotiations still ongoing. We’re excited to work with the Senator again in the near future.
@Jill_Jorgensen We are so proud of Paul-Anthony! He has been a resident with AHRC NYC Housing Supports and currently attends QCC through our Melissa Riggio Higher Education Program. He is an exemplary person.
Governor Hochul is announcing NY’s budget framework today, and the I/DD community is watching closely.
New York can’t afford to fall behind now. A full 4% TII is critical to protect essential services and support the workforce.

NYSID President & CEO Maureen O’Brien testified this morning before the New York State Senate Standing Committees on Disabilities and Labor at a public hearing focused on breaking down barriers to employment for individuals with disabilities across New York State. The hearing examined how effective current state policies are in advancing equitable employment opportunities—and where more progress is needed.
Maureen was joined on the panel by Stanfort Perry, CEO of @AHRCNassau, and Hannah Milson, Regional Director for Employment Services at @AHRCNYC, bringing valuable perspectives from across the disability services community.
Together, they highlighted the importance of continued collaboration, innovation, and policy support to ensure all New Yorkers have access to meaningful employment opportunities.
We were thrilled to partner with The Beautiful Lives Project for a revelatory workshop with @nycballet. Residents from AHRC NYC and @AHRCNassau learned about the history and movements of this legendary artform directly from dancers in the company.
Behind every I/DD service is a workforce making independence possible.
That system is under strain.
NY’s final budget must include a full 4% TII to stabilize services, support staff, and prevent disruptions.
